About the Little Girls graphic novel:

Something hunts people on the outskirts of town…

Sam and Lielet are two new friends living in Ethiopia. They’re dealing with the kind of problems that all kids have: judgmental social cliques, condescending adults, alienation… and a legendary brain-eating monster straight out of folklore. Sure, it’s not going to be easy, but all they have to do is live through it. Showcasing a quietly unsettling plot and building tension similar to Nick Drnaso’s Sabrina and Adrian Tomine’s Killing and Dying, Aflleje and DeLaine construct a poignant story of otherness and mystery.

Little Girls (ISBN: 9781534310599, Diamond Code: FEB190018) hits comic shops on Wednesday, April 24 and bookstores on Tuesday, April 30.

Something hunts people on the outskirts of town in… Little Girls

Image Comics has announced an eerie, hauntingly original graphic novel, Little Girls, by debut creators Nicholas Aflleje and Sarah DeLaine, set to hit shelves in March 2019.

In Little Girls, readers meet Sam, who has been an outsider all her life. That might have been the case even if her father hadn’t dragged her all around the globe, but it sure didn’t help. Every year, another school and another word for foreigner. Why would things be any different in Harar, Ethiopia? Well, for one thing, there’s Lielet—an outspoken and rebellious local girl who has all the makings of a lifelong friend. Then there is the city itself—a crossroad of cultures and traditions woven together through time that make it feel like anything’s possible. Also, there’s something hunting people on the outskirts of town…

As the disappearances start piling up, Sam and Lielet decide they might be the only ones willing to do anything about it. But as these two young friends bravely strike out into the dark on an exciting new adventure, they soon find that the night has teeth.

Little Girls, OGN (ISBN: 978-1-5343-1059-9) hits comics shops on Wednesday, March 26th and bookstores on Tuesday April 2nd. It can be pre-ordered via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Indiebound, and Indigo.

Image Comics Introduced New PR & Marketing Coordinator, Sarah DeLaine

January 18, 2011  — Image Comics has announced that Sarah deLaine, a long-time Image staff member and former employee of the visionary comic book store Comic Relief, will replace Betsy Gomez as the company’s PR & Marketing Coordinator.

Since moving to the Bay Area in 2004, deLaine has been a dedicated part of the Berkeley comics community, first at Berkeley’s Comic Relief, where she worked with the preeminent comics retail team of Rory Root and Todd Martinez, then as Image Comics’ administrative assistant. Martinez became Image’s Sales & Licensing Coordinator in May 2010, furthering the working relationship he and deLaine developed during their retail days.

“I’m thrilled to be taking over as Image Comics’ new PR & Marketing Coordinator,” said deLaine. “I couldn’t think of a better situation than the one we’re looking at now at Image: We have a fantastic, dedicated staff here, and some of the new books we’ll be introducing this year are going to blow everyone away. I want nothing more than to help comics be the best they can be, and I believe Image is the place to do that.”

deLaine will be taking over as PR & Marketing Coordinator effective immediately, and while Publisher Eric Stephenson is disappointed to be losing Gomez, he is excited to have deLaine fill her post.

“I’ve known Sarah since she worked for Rory Root at Comic Relief, and she’s a highly personable individual with a lot of ideas that she can’t wait to put to use marketing our titles,” stated Image Publisher Eric Stephenson. “I couldn’t be more happy to have Sarah take on a greater role as part of the Image team and we’re all looking forward to working with her over the months to come as she helps us continue to raise awareness of all the great work creators are doing at Image.”

Sales & Licensing Coordinator Todd Martinez added, “I’m confident that Sarah and I will make an excellent team for the future of Image Comics.”
