Walking the battle-scarred world of Nu Earth, where Nort and Souther forces fight for control of a nearby black hole, . Genetic Infantryman Rogue Trooper is the sole survivor of the Quartz Massacre. Having seen his allies killed in front of him, he took biochips from their heads and placed them into his equipment: meaning his gun, backpack and helmet are imbued with the personalities of his fellow soldiers! Together with the bio-chipped “ghosts” of his dead comrades he wages a one-man war against the vicious Nort forces.

In Ghost Patrol, a Souther war veteran called Macinrow remembers his first posting to Nu-Earth. Backed up by the Genetic Infantrymen, victory is all-but-assured for the Souther Forces. But when Macinrow and his team land on the surface of the poisonous planet they’re in for a whirlwind: not only has the Genetic Infantryman Programme been betrayed, but they’ve all been killed! All except one: Rogue Trooper, who is waiting for the drop team on arrival…

Ghost Patrol is a perfect story for first-time fans of 2000 AD, interested in learning more about the character ahead of the movie. “You need to know absolutely zero about Rogue Trooper to get it,” de Campi explains. “This is (chad face) ‘chapter one, bro’ stuff”.

Although Macinrow thought his war was over, an unexpected visit throws him right back into the heart of battle, as he’s recruited to hunt down his old friend Sgt White… who could hold the key to winning the war for good!

In June, Rebellion announced Rogue Trooper: Ghost Patrol the start of a massive new storyline! From Alex de Campi, Neil Edwards, Matt Soffe, and Jim Campbell, Ghost Patrol explores the history of the Genetic Infantryman project which created Rogue and his fellow G.I. comrades.

The release comes in the lead up to the upcoming Rogue Trooper movie, directed by Duncan Jones!

SDCC 2025: Duncan Jones will appear to help promote Rogue Trooper based on the Rebellion series. Get a first look!

The eagerly anticipated movie adaptation of classic British comic Rogue Trooper, written and directed by Duncan Jones, has released four still images offering fans their first look at the upcoming movie.  

The first of the new images shows breakout talent Aneurin Barnard as the Rogue Trooper. Alongside this, we see Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry as scheming battleground looters Mr Brass and Mr Bland. We also get a glimpse of a hulking war vehicle roaming the planet Nu Earth, where the brutal war between the Norts and Southers takes place. The third image depicts two Souther soldiers, lost, traversing the toxic wasteland and battlefield.

Duncan Jones will be appearing at San Diego Comic Con on July 25 (2-3pm PDT at the Rebellion stand, booth number 2121) to meet fans and sign a limited run of the Rogue Trooper hero image.

Behind the scenes images of actors Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry as Mr Brass and Mr Bland were also released, illustrating the facial capture technology used in the creation of Rogue Trooper.

An animated science fiction feature from Rebellion and Liberty Films, Rogue Trooper tells the story of 19, a ‘Genetic Infantryman’, who finds himself the sole-survivor of an invasion force. Desperate to track down the traitor who sold him and his comrades out, the super soldier is accompanied by three killed-in-action squad mates, whose personalities have been stored in his gun, helmet and backpack.

The Rogue Trooper movie features an ensemble cast, that also includes Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Daryl McCormack, and Reece Shearsmith, Diane Morgan, Alice Lowe, Asa Butterfield, and Sean Bean.

Principal Photography was completed in 2024 utilising the cutting-edge Head Mounted Camera (HMC) technology and expertise of Motion Grinder. Imagery and animation partner Treehouse Digital processed and applied the data to the characters within Unreal Engine 5, handing over to Liberty Films’ own VFX and animation teams to light and finalize, bringing the incredible world of Rogue Trooper to life.

The film is produced by Stuart Fenegan alongside Jason Kingsley, Chris Kingsley and Duncan Jones.

Rogue Trooper was created by legendary artist Dave Gibbons and writer Gerry Finley-Day.

Duncan Jones’ movie adaptation of classic British comic Rogue Trooper has wrapped principal photography in the UK. Written and directed by Jones, Rogue Trooper  is an animated science fiction feature from Rebellion and Liberty Films.
 
Shot at Rebellion Film Studios in Oxfordshire, breakout talent Aneurin Barnard (The Goldfinch, Dunkirk) stars as the eponymous Rogue Trooper, alongside Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Dunkirk), Daryl McCormack (Bad Sisters, Good Luck To You Leo Grande), and Reece Shearsmith (Inside No. 9, Saltburn). Rounding out the cast is an incredible ensemble, which includes Jemaine Clement (Avatar 2: The Way of Water), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows), Diane Morgan (Cunk on Earth), Alice Lowe (Black Mirror), Asa Butterfield (Sex Education, Hugo) and Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings).
