Jason Brubaker’s reMIND returns as a Complete Saga

Titan Comics has announced reMIND: The Complete Saga, the acclaimed sci-fi fantasy graphic novel by award-winning creator and former DreamWorks Animation artist Jason Brubaker. Arriving October 13, 2026, this deluxe hardcover collects the complete reMIND saga in a single volume, featuring brand-new cover art and exclusive behind-the-scenes material.

Originally launched as a webcomic in 2009, reMIND quickly built an audience of over a million readers thanks to its richly detailed artwork, cinematic storytelling, and emotionally engaging characters. The series, which blends imaginative worldbuilding with themes of friendship, loyalty, and identity, was eventually self-published in 2011, making reMIND: The Complete Saga a 15th-anniversary edition.  

The story follows Sonja, a lighthouse keeper and inventor living on a remote island with her cat, Victuals. When Victuals mysteriously disappears and later returns carrying the brain of an intelligent lizard-creature from a hidden underwater kingdom, Sonja is drawn into a dangerous world of ancient civilizations, scientific experiments, and buried secrets beneath the sea.

Known for his work on Kung Fu Panda 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Croods, and Captain Underpants, Brubaker brings an animation-inspired sense of storytelling and visual energy to every page. This new edition also includes exclusive bonus material showcasing his creative process, from early sketches to final painted artwork. Since reMind, he has continued self-publishing additional series, including a 1000+ page adventure graphic novel series, Sithrah, and a gothic comedy, Phobos.

The series has received significant recognition over the years, including the Xeric Award in 2010, placement on the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Great Graphic Novels for Teens list in 2012, and an Eisner Award nomination in 2020 for Macroverse’s TapStory adaptation.

Pick of the Week: Strange Attractors and 9 Other Choices

Strange Attractors CoverOne of my favorite writers is Charles Soule and one of my favorite publishers is Archaia. So when I heard Soule’s Strange Attractors was being published by Archaia, I was super excited.

In order to set himself up with a cushy job post graduation, Heller Wilson takes on a subject for his PhD thesis at the behest of his advisor. This leads him to meet with Dr. Spencer Brownfield, a disgraced Columbia professor who spent his career researching Complex Theory, the idea that one can use mathematics to predict large-scale outcomes caused by minute changes in environment. At first, Dr. Brownfield seems crazy, but Heller soon discovers that the doctor’s research might be the only thing keeping New York City from destroying itself from the inside out! Includes a bonus section of complexity maps created by Robert Saywitz.

It’s a pretty out-there concept and one that’s creative and unique. Can’t wait to sit down and tear through it.

Soon Winslow will realize that what is in his dreams is what the rest of the world has been made to forget–and what strange entities will stop at nothing to erase from his mind.
  • Age of Ultron #8 – The series is at a point where anything can happen. The event is finally at an exciting point where everything is on the table.
  • Adventure Time Vol. 1: Playing Fire – The first Adventure Time graphic novel? Yes please!
  • Battlestar Galactica #1 – A new comic based on the cult classic television series.
  • Mark Waid’s Green Hornet #2 – This is written by Mark Waid. That reason alone it’s a buy.
  • Regular Show #1 – The cartoon series comes out from kaBOOM! They’ve been rocking the kids books, so hope this keeps it up.
  • Remind Vol. 1 – This one is one of my favorite convention finds. Such an amazing web series collected.
  • Remind Vol. 2 – The first volume = awesome. That goes for the second as well.

remind-volume-1One of the great finds from my visit to San Diego Comic Con 2011 was Jason Brubaker‘s reMIND. Not only did the story sound interesting, but the art was beautiful

reMIND is a mystical, sci-fi about faith, love and brain transplantation.

Sonja, the lighthouse keeper at a seaside oil drilling town, loses her cat, Victuals. Everyone blames the Lizard Man, the local boogeyman, which Sonja knows is a myth created by her late father to generate interest in the town. But when Victuals unexpectedly returns and has the brain of a strange intelligent creature; it seems someone is doing experimental transplants.

With the brain of a lizard and the body of a cat, Victuals must now fight to recover his original lizard body and confront what he thought was the all-powerful god.

When Brubaker announced his Kickstarter project for the second volume, I immediately plucked down my money and recommended it on this site. I recommended the web comic turned graphic novel when it was $25, well, how about it for free?

The graphic novel is amazing, a fantastical tale that’s entertaining for both parents and kids and the art is amazing. Finding series and talent like this, is one of the big reasons I enjoy going to conventions. Do yourself a favor and get this for free today!

Kickstarter Spotlight – reMIND: Volume 2

I called Jason Brubaker’s reMIND one of “the finds” of San Diego Comic-Con 2011 and I’ve been waiting for the Kickstarter project for the second volume was launched. Luckily it has and I plopped my money down as soon as I could. The first volume was brilliant, being one of my favorite reads of the year, with a fantastic story and art that was jaw dropping.

From the Kickstarter page:

reMIND is an all ages sci-fi about faith, underwater lizard-men and brain transplantation. I was inspired by comic artists in the 90’s when I refined my drawing style and then was influenced by Miyazaki’s movies and storytelling over the last decade.

I could go on and on about how good the first volume and this type of series is exactly why Kickstarter exists and being able to find something like this is why I like going to conventions and hanging out in artist’s alley. Jason has always been beyond friendly when I’ve chatted with him and the series is one I will constantly recommend (one of the best you’re probably not reading!).

Best Pledge: $50 gets you both volume 1 and volume 2 and $25 gets you a copy of the second volume. I myself am going for the $58 volume 2 + slip case + tshirt.

SDCC 2011 – The Finds of the Show

Some of the best things about conventions is walking Artist Alley and the small press area to discover comics I might not otherwise see in stores and artists whose work would look great on one of my shelves or wall.  This year there were a few that stood out, but three that really need to be highlighted.

Jason Brubaker’s reMIND

I don’t even know where to begin to describe this comic book, but it’s the “find” of the show.  I picked up Jason’s hardcover edition of the book reMIND, limited to 2500, and the three issues of Phobos.  The story is about love and loss, family and what we do for it all, all in a beautiful book with amazing art.  I just can’t describe it, but it’s absolutely a must buy.

Dan Cooney’s Valentine: Reloaded

I picked up both books to the series and got a chance to read Valentine: Reloaded.  While there’s some issues I had, overall, the series is really solid for a small press book.  The heroine is badass, and there’s some great action sequences.

This edgy and stylish action series explores the dichotomy of a killer on the job and the psychological after-effects of a woman whose morally questionable profession has made her a liability to everyone she has ever met – in addition to herself! Collecting issues #1-9, revised and re-edited, including an all-new, full-color one shot, Valentine: Plan B For Blonde.

The series is good and caught my eye on their table, but it was the friendliness of Dan that really won me over.  It pays to engage the con-goers people!

Geoff Sebesta’s I Am the President of Ice Cream

You want the perfect example of how someone’s enthusiasm can win you over and how engaging online works? Look no further than Geoff Sebesta.  Geoff had a lot on display and got me over to his table through Facebook.  When meeting him, you couldn’t help but just get excited as well, the man loves his books and his enthusiasm is infectious.

I honestly couldn’t tell you what the book is about, but I flipped through it and it definitely seemed interesting.  There’s some other items that were handed to me to check out and I’m looking forward to reading it all.

Geoff is a perfect example of engaging people online.  Normally I might have walked by his table, but he asked me to come over.  He wanted to meet me and say “hi.”  And once at the table he won me over and got me excited.  The man is full of energy and you can’t help but support him.  I’m looking forward to sitting down and seeing what his enthusiasm translates to on paper.
