Kerry Washington and Rashida Jones Team to Bring BOOM! Studios’ Goldie Vance to the Big Screen
Kerry Washington and Rashida Jones are teaming up to bring Goldie Vance to the big screen. The film is based on writer Hope Larson and artist Brittney Williams‘ comic series publishing by BOOM! Studios who will produce it along Simpson Street for Fox.
The comic series is about a 16-year-old mixed-race girl who dreams of being the in-house detective at a Miami resort. Think a much more modern Nancy Drew. The series is a perfect family film with franchise written all over it.
Jones will adapt and direct the film with Washngton producing. Also producing are Ross Richie and Stephen Christy for Boom! Studios. Boom!’s Adam Yoelin will co-produce. Daria Cercek and Jon Wu will oversee for Fox.
BOOM! has a first look deal with 20th Century Fox Television and 20th Century Fox Film. It’s currently in post on the supernatural thriller The Empty Man for Fox, and developing Mouse Guard, with Wes Ball attached to direct, Matt Reeves producing, and Gary Whitta writing; Irredeemable with Adam McKay attached to direct and Tommy Wirkola writing; and Malignant with Becca Thomas attached to direct.
