Ms. Marvel must Grapple with a Mysterious New Villain in Ms. Marvel: Remnants of the Past

By day, Kamala Khan is a typical teen living a typical life: She struggles through her physics homework, fosters a not-so-secret crush on her best friend, and does her best to placate her perpetually stressed-out parents. But by night, Kamala is Jersey City’s premier superhero, patrolling the streets and drawing on her shapeshifting powers to defend her community from the city’s most nefarious villains.

In a fresh new adventure, Ms. Marvel: Remnants of the Past, the superpowered teen finds herself thrust into a mission centered around a stolen pair of magical spectacles. In her quest to return them to where they belong, Kamala journeys to Lahore, Pakistan – the land of her father’s youth – and must grapple with a mysterious new bad guy and what to do when the choice between right and wrong isn’t so clear.

Written by acclaimed author and activist Saadia Faruqi, Ms. Marvel is a beautiful exploration of the Pakistani American experience through the eyes of fan-favorite superhero Kamala Khan. Through snappy YA prose and page-turning action, readers get to accompany Ms. Marvel on her adventure which explores themes of colonialism, greed, and heritage.

Ms. Marvel: Remnants of the Past for ages 12+ is out January 6, 2026. Order your copy from Bookshop, Amazon, your local comic or bookstore, and more!

Marvel’s Yelena Belova stars in new espionage thriller White Widow: Secret Sisters. Out this September

White Widow: Secret Sisters

Yelena Belova – super-spy, former assassin, and adoptive younger sister of Natasha Romanoff – has been a fan-favorite character since she was first introduced in Marvel’s comics in 1998. Though she is oft-characterized by her sharp humor and youthful spirit, Yelena also harbors a compelling and extremely dark past as a graduate of the “Red Room,” – the brutal Soviet training program responsible for turning young girls into assassins, or “widows.”

In Tess Sharpe’s forthcoming YA thriller, White Widow: Secret Sisters, readers encounter Yelena on the heels of her cutthroat training. Her new mission lands her at the “American Outpost” – the US version of the Red Room. Yelena is tasked with improving the barely capable American trainees, but when her mission goes awry, she ends up on the run with one of the girls, an orphaned, eerily familiar eight-year-old.

Sharpe’s twisty spy-thriller is rife with intrigue, humor, and heart, featuring stunning betrayals and a moving arc of self-discovery for Yelena. For fans of Marvel and those simply in search of their next action-packed narrative, White Widow delivers a page-turning espionage thriller.

From Random House, White Widow: Secret Sisters is out September 2, 2025 and for readers ages 12+. Order it now from Bookshop, Amazon, your local book shop, and more.

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Launch DC Super Hero Girls

DC Super Hero GirlsDC Comics has said for a while they were working on diversifying their line, the beginning of which we saw with the comics that will launch post Convergence. Now, along with Warner Bros., DC has announced a new universe called DC Super Hero Girls that will help “build character and confidence, and empowers girls to discover their true potential.”

The release will be across platforms including digital content, television specials, made-for videos, publishing, toys, apparel and more. The partnerships include Random House Children’s Books, Mattel, and Lego (OMG I want Legos of this!).

The new line is focused on girls age 6-12 and focuses on female superheroes and super villains from the DC Comics universe during their “formative years.” Featuring a completely new artistic style and aesthetic, the line includes teenage versions of DC Comics’ icons such as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy, Katana and many more.

The initial launch will happen in the Fall 2015 and include an “immersive digital experience, original digital content and digital publishing.”

Mattel is helping work on the narrative creation, interactive digital components, and eventually a toy line will launch in 2016. This will include an action figure line, an area usually thought of for boys, and fashion dolls.

Random House will be creating books that help bring the world to life and the first will launch in Spring 2016. There will also be graphic novels from DC Comics.

Finally, Lego will be launching building sets based in this world (seriously can’t wait!).

Congrats to DC and Warner Bros. on this impressive initiative and launch and look forward to see what’s to come!

Archie Comics Donates $1 Million Worth of Books to Toys for Tots

toys for tots archieIn an unprecedented initiative for a comic book publisher, Archie Comics, the home of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, and many more, has donated over one million dollars worth of children’s books to the Toys For Tots program. The not-for-profit charity organization is dedicated to providing less fortunate children with toys for Christmas. Archie Comics is proud to be part of this mission.

Archie Comics is encouraging its fans to join in with a new initiative called “Archie’s Give-a-Book Program,” to spread the gift of giving to children. Making books available to every child to encourage creativity and literacy is an important mission to Archie Comics.

In addition, the teen residents from the comics’ hometown of Riverdale will be getting in on the fun in a new story entitled, “Holiday Heroes,” where Archie, Betty, Veronica and the rest pitch in their efforts to the Toys For Tots foundation. The special story is featured in Archie Double Digest #246, available now where Archie Comics are sold.

Archie Comics is gladly giving back to the children who have made Archie a household name for over 70 years with the help of its distribution partner Random House, who generously offered its services towards delivering the gifts to this worthy charity.
