Pinnacle Entertainment Group Partners with Outland Entertainment for New Comics and Fiction Through Outrider Publications

Dead Man’s Hand

Pinnacle Entertainment Group and Outland Entertainment have joined forces to bring some of PEG’s most popular IPs to life in the form of new comics and prose!

This comprehensive licensing deal is for Outland to produce fiction based on Pinnacle’s wide range of original gaming properties all under a new imprint: Outrider Publications. Outland will be working directly with Pinnacle President Shane Lacy Hensley. The license represents the first group of properties brought in by Outland’s new Licensing Director, C. Edward Sellner.

With the license, Outland will first release the previous Deadlands graphic novels in all-new, high-quality hardcovers starting with Dead Man’s Hand, a collection of comic stories by top creators set in Shane Lacy Hensley’s Deadlands, launching April 5th on Kickstarter.

New projects will be announced soon, including bringing back top creators and fan-favorite characters and introducing brand new titles set in various Savage Worlds properties.

The Goon and Fear Agent Come to RPGs

Pinnacle Entertainment Group has launched two Kickstarters running simultaneously for the pulp scifi setting Fear Agent and “zombie Noir” The Goon comics. Both were funded in less than 90 minutes and have already passed numerous stretch goals!

The Goon RPG for Savage Worlds

Multiple Eisner-award winning comic The Goon pulls no punches when Goon starts swingin’—usually at the chug-heads, changelings, and snake-riddled rival gangs what get in his way. Now your strangers, weirdos, and ne’er do wells can join his crew, make Lonely Street a bit less zombified, and even save the Town in the dramatic Plot Point Campaign “From Hell’s Heart We Bite at Thee!”

The Goon was created by Eric Powell and published by Dark Horse Comics.

Fear Agent RPG for Savage Worlds

The Earth is decimated in an alien invasion—then the “backwards” survivors are invited to join the United Systems as a sort of half-hearted apology. Just like the star of the comics, the “Last Fear Agent” Heath Huston, your heroes are stuck cleaning up the mess in a planet-hopping, time-traveling, conundrum-unravelling journey against the strangest and weirdest aliens the Deep has to offer. And all with a few twists worthy of this phenomenal series!

Fear Agent was created by Rick Remender, Tony Moore, and Jerome Opeña, and published by Dark Horse Comics.

The Goon RPG and the Fear Agent RPG for Savage Worlds Kickstarters each offer a core book, GM Screen with adventure, Bennies, dice, and amazing miniatures sculpted by Bronze Age Miniatures. A copy of the Savage Worlds core rules is required to play ($10 at www.peginc.com).

If you are new to Savage Worlds, Pinnacle announced an Un-Stretch Goal: PDFs for Deadlands, Rippers Resurrected, The Last Parsec, and East Texas University. Digital or higher level backers on either Goon RPG or Fear Agent RPG Kickstarter get these PDFs for FREE after the Kickstarter. That’s a terrific way to get a feel for the variety of genres Savage Worlds can handle.

Deadlands Novel Releases from Tor!

Deadlands GhostwalkersTor Books has announced a new partnership with Pinnacle Entertainment Group and Visionary Comics to publish a series of thrilling novels based on Deadlands, the hugely successful role-playing game set in the Weird West! The series begins with Deadlands: Ghostwalkers (A Tor Trade Paperback; $15.99; September 22, 2015) by New York Times bestselling author, Jonathan Maberry, out just in time for the Halloween season! In Ghostwalkers, a gun-for-hire, literally haunted by his bloody past, comes to the struggling town of Paradise Falls, where he becomes embroiled in a deadly conflict between the besieged community and a diabolically brilliant alchemist who is building a terrible new weapon of mass destruction… and assembling an army of the living dead!

Tabletop gamers as well as fans of steampunk, science fiction, and alternate history will be swept up in this brand new installment set in the highly acclaimed and beloved world of the Deadlands RPG universe.

Maberry is the multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of The King of Plagues, Patient Zero, The Dragon Factory, Ghost Road Blues, and Rot & Ruin, among others. He also wrote the novelization of the movie The Wolfman. His work for Marvel Comics includes Captain America, Punisher, Wolverine, DoomWar, Marvel Zombie Return, and Black Panther. The first announcement was for Fear Agent, a comic series by Rick Remender, Tony Moore, and Jerome Opeña. Bunn is a long time RPG player himself and collects games. The comic has a mix of genres including fantasy, horror, action, and—of course—gunslingers a-plenty. The series has created an in-depth world, perfect for the gaming experience.

Deadlands Goes Prose Courtesy of Tor Books

Pinnacle Entertainment Group and Visionary Comics have reached agreement with Tor Books for the publication of all-new, original prose novels set in the world of the popular roleplaying game Deadlands. The deal calls for three novels, with an initial lineup of authors that includes New York Times bestselling, award-winning Jonathan Maberry and Jeff Mariotte.

C. Edward Sellner, chief creative officer for Visionary, said in a statement:

We’re very excited to be bringing Deadlands to such a publishing powerhouse. It’s our first move into non-comics media, and the people at Tor have been fantastic to work with. I have no doubt the fans will enjoy the results.

The novel line is an exciting step in the expansion of the Deadlands world. Visionary Comics has already successfully launched the property as comics.

Shane Hensley, the creator of Deadlands and president of Pinnacle Entertainment Group, said in the same statement:

It’s been such a joy watching Visionary play in our sandbox. We truly consider them partners in growing and expanding the Deadlands universe. Now Jonathan Maberry and Jeff Mariotte get to really dig deep and explore the world in the kind of depth you only get with full-length novels, and we’re as excited as anyone else to see what they do.

Jonathan Maberry added:

I’m really excited about writing Deadlands: Ghostwalkers, a balls-to-the-walls alt-history steampunk supernatural shoot-‘em-up action western. With zombies. I think I was genetically designed to write this kind of book.
