THIS IS IT! THE END OF THE SERIES! WE MADE IT THIS FAR, SO LET’S SEE HOW IT ENDS…RIGHT?

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in!

Each week our contributors are choosing up to five books and why they’re choosing the books. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this Wednesday.

Charlie’s Angels #1 (Dynamite) – While the publisher can be hit and miss, we’re excited to see this property back in comics and it’s long overdue. Hoping for the best but this is one that’s high on our read pile.

Dodge City #4 (BOOM! Studios) – A comic about dodge ball? It works and it’s a lot of fun to read. So far the comic has focused on interesting characters and has avoided predictable twists to keep readers on their toes.

Final Street #1 (Devil’s Due) – The cover, the logo, it reminds us of the classic beat’em-up side scrolling video games of our youth. That’s enough to get us excited to check this one out.

The Flash #49 (DC Comics) – “The Flash War” has been excellent so far. The story has sped along at breakneck speed (pun intended) and its impact feels like it’s going to be huge.

Man of Steel #5 (DC Comics) – We’ve enjoyed Brian Michael Bendis’ take on Superman so far. The miniseries has been great in its depiction of the character, though the action has been a bit mixed. Still, this is the defining series as to where the character is going for the next few years at least.

Multiple Man #1 (Marvel) – Maddrox is back? Dead. Alive. Dead. We’re honestly not sure the status of Jamie Maddrox so we’re intrigued to see what this series will be about.

Sentry #1 (Marvel) – The Sentry was never a character we cared for in the past but Jeff Lemire taking him on has us really excited.

Shadow Roads #1 (Oni Press) – The follow up to Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt’s The Sixth Gun has us excited. The fantasy western was fantastic and we’re expecting more of the same.

Thor #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was fun. Lots of fun. Thor is a bit humbled and things are being figured out post major events. Add in a lot of humor and it’s an entertaining series so far and one that’s shot up to the top of our read pile.

X-O Manowar (2017) #16 (Valiant Entertainment) – Everything Valiant has been putting out is quality and this series is one of their best. Just fantastic all around.

Multiple Man Courtesy of James Franco, Simon Kinberg, and Allan Heinberg

Deadline is reporting that James Franco is looking to play Jamie Maddrox, Multiple Man in a movie from Fox. The script is being written by Allan Heinberg, and Simon Kinberg and Genre Films are producing it along with Franco and Ramona Films.

Multiple Man is a part of Marvel Comics‘ X-Men universe and is a character who has the ability to create copies of himself with the first appearing when the doctor slapped him to breathe when he was born.

The character has ranged in numerous types of stories from superhero adventures to detective noir and thus the movie could cover a wide range of genres.

This is the latest spin-off for the “X” Universe for Fox which has included Deadpool and its sequel, The New Mutants, the upcoming Gambit, and a new X-film X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

WizKids Shows Off Marvel Dice Masters Deadpool: Storm, Multiple Man, and Fantomex

WizKids‘ next Dice Masters set, Marvel Dice Masters: Deadpool, is out in November and the game publisher has been showing off some of the cards and dice you’ll find within. On their Instagram account, the company has revealed three new common cards for Storm, Multiple Man, and Fantomex which are all a part of the X-Men team affiliation.

Storm: Thunderclap is a two cost BOLT character whose fielding cost for the first two levels is a cheap 0. But, it’s the card’s ability that could be the most interesting. When you field her, you can spin target ? energy in your opponent’s Reserve Pool to a BOLT face. It’s a combo card, it’s just a question of what combo to use it with and with more and more cards requiring you to keep energy in your Reserve Pool for defensive measures, this could be an interesting one.

Multiple Man: Duplicitous Nature is harder to figure out what it does. The card is a 3 MASK and has Underdog that involves doing something with a die from your Used pile when fielded. I could make guesses as to what that is, but it’d only be guesses.

Fantomex: E.V.A. is our final card and I believe that’s a X-Men symbol in its ability (though looks Hydra too) and it says character dice not of that type can’t block Fantomex unless the defending player moves one die from their Prep Area to their bag for each Fantomex character die they declare blockers for. At a cost of four SHIELD to purchase and a relatively cheap fielding cost for the stats, this is an interesting card, especially for drafts.
