Fans Choose the Minimates in Marvel?s Infinity Box Set at Toys ?R? Us!

One of the biggest events in the Marvel Universe last year was Infinity, in which the Avengers protected Earth from imminent destruction even as the world-conquering Thanos cut a path through the galaxy in search of his mysterious son. This year, Diamond Select Toys is excited to announce an all-new Marvel Minimates box set based on the crossover, and you get to pick who’s in it!

The box set will be available this fall exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores and online at Toysrus.com, and will include four different Minimates. You’ll get to pick which four by casting your vote below. Pick four out of the six possible characters — Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thanos, Thane and Ronan — and the four with the highest number of votes will be included in the box set! Amazing Spider-Man 2 Minimates Swing into Comic Shops with New Photos!

The 56th series of Marvel Minimates is here, and it’s based on the latest entry in the cinematic world of Marvel superheroes: The Amazing Spider-Man 2! This week, when you pick up the latest issues of your favorite comic book titles at the local comic shop, you can also pick up four different two-packs of Marvel Minimates featuring Spider-Man and his big-screen friends and foes! Check out the gallery, and read all about them!

First up, Spider-Man battles a grinning Green Goblin using his webline and megaphone accessories. Then a Battle-Damaged Spider-Man dons a fireman’s helmet to take on a metallic Electro, with lightning attachments and an energy base. Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy pair up in the third two-pack, with a Spider-Man mask, backpack and phone, and the final two-pack gives us Electro’s boss Alistair Smythe with a briefcase and a pre-Rhino Aleksei Sytsevich with a machine gun and an alternate pantsless pair of legs.

These four two-packs are exclusively available at comic shops and specialty stores, although Toys “R” Us will receive slightly different versions of the two Spider-Man sets one with a serious-faced Green Goblin and one with a translucent Electro. Toys “R” Us will also have their own exclusive two-pack, featuring a “Flashback” version of Spider-Man and a pre-accident Max Dillon with briefcase and newspaper.

The Deadly Foes of Spider-Man Team Up for a New Minimates Box Set!

With both the Green Goblin and Electro menacing Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, all eyes are on Spidey’s classic comic-book villains! And while there are more Spider-Man Minimates than any other character in the Marvel Universe, his rogues gallery hasn’t been in the Minimate spotlight in quite some time. To remedy that, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum have created an all-new box set featuring Spidey’s deadliest foes, and it’s exclusively available through Luke’s Toy Store!

Now available for pre-order, Doctor Octopus, the Lizard, Sandman and Carnage are included in this four-pack, which will ship in September. But three of the characters feature interchangeable parts to create alternate looks, which means it’s like buying seven figures in all! Carnage comes with a Kletus Cassidy head and various weapon hands, Sandman comes with Flint Marko’s human arms and legs, and the Lizard comes with Dr. Curt Connors’ head, legs, arm and empty folded sleeve, for a total transformation!

The only figure that doesn’t include alternate parts is Otto Octavius, a.k.a. Doctor Octopus, who comes with his four ever-present tentacles, two of which can be used to lift him up off of the ground! Each figure also comes with a clear disc base, and the set of four will come packaged in a full-color window box.

Toy Stories – April 28th 2014

In case you didn’t know, C2E2 (Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo) took place this weekend in Chicago. While most of the news coming out was related to comics, we did get a few cool toy reveals. The object of much of my devotion, Diamond Select Toys, had a pair of cool new items to show off.

Cowabunga!

That’s right, TMNT Minimates! I’m a huge TMNT fan and while I’m not up to speed on the newest show, it’s amazing to see Miniamtes of the turtles. April, Shredder, and Foot Clan Soldiers are also seeing release later this year. I am super excited for the possibilities these bring up. DST has shown how creative they can be with reusing assets for other figures. A quick repaint and we can easily get an 80’s cartoon or Eastman and Laird comic book box sets. Perhaps I’ll tweet DSTZach @CollectDST every week until it happens.

Yep, certainly deadly.

DST also showed off a LukesToyStore.com exclusive: Deadly Foes of Spider-Man Marvel Minimates Box Set. The set features Carnage, Doc Ock, Sandman, and Lizard. Most of the pieces look to be re-used from earlier figures and updated with new paint jobs and accessories. Lizard appears to feature the most new parts, including a new head sculpt. Carnage hasn’t had a new figure in years, so the added tendrils and a new paint deco are certainly welcome. Due for a September release, you can pre-order this set now.

DC Collectibles also put a out an interseting video called: Batman: 75 Years, 75 Action Figures. The video doesn’t actually feature 75 figures (I was disappointed) but it does show of some of the cool Batman figures DC Collectibles (Formerly DC Direct) has made over years. A few of the sales stats that come up in the video are interesting too.

It’s Minimate Mayhem This Week

Following the X-Men: Days of Future Past and Best Of Marvel Wave 3, comes even more Minimate news! MTV showed off the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 Minimates and Marvel Miniamtes Series 59 just showed up for pre-order. Let’s check em out!

Interesting how Alistar Smythe is a big enough part of the movie to get a figure (a 1 per case at that). Is the role more than just a cameo? Maybe we’re getting set-up for Spider-Slayer in ASM3. Plus, if you’ve ever wanted a figure of a pants-less Paul Giamatti, now’s your chance. If you are THAT person, this might be the wrong site for you.

I’m kind of a sucker for translucent Minimates and that electricity effect is pretty cool. The “Flashback” Spider-Man also answers how the suit from the first film makes an unfortunate return. These sets should all be available alongside (or just after) the release of Amazing Spider-Man 2 on May 2nd.

To top it all off, DST Marvel Miniamtes Series 59 was unveiled today. It features the The All New X-Men from the Brian Michael Bendis comic series.

The Diamond Select Minimates are some of the best figures ever made. The designers at Art Asylum have created hundreds of characters from a wide variety of comic books, movies, video games and TV shows. The Marvel Minimates are by far the most popular and have been seeing steady releases for over 10 years! To celebrate, Diamond Select is releasing a 3rd wave of the “Best Of Marvel” series.

The series will consist of:

Marvel Now Captain America & Modern Spider-Man
Transforming Grey Hulk & Extremis Iron Man
Classic Hawkeye & Ant-Man
Luke Cage Power & Iron Fist

Diamond has been including a lot more accessories of late and this “Best Of” wave stays the course. Grey Hulk has extra pieces to allow a transformation from Banner into Grey Hulk (a series first) and Ant-Man comes with a lab coat to rock a Hank Pym look. The Luke Cage and Iron Fist set includes accessories from looks the characters have had during their long histories. The biggest score from the series is probably the Hawkeye. A Modern Hawkeye was recently released in a Toys R Us 2-pack, but this one is a great update of the Classic Hawkeye release we saw 6 years ago (not including the hard to find Disney Exclusive Avengers Box set). The “Best of Marvel” Wave 3 arrives this summer.

In a nice Minimate double-dip, we get our first look at the set from X-Men: Days of Future Past. The newest X-Men film seems rather light on the merchandise, and these minimates might be all the figure love we get from our merry mutants’ latest romp.

It’s a little funny how the 8 figures actually represent only 5 characters. Time travel is great! The pairings are also a little odd, mixing the future and past versions of different characters together. Also, Storm? Really? I’m pretty sure, oh, KITTY PRYDE plays a bigger part in the film than Storm. Oh well. Like other minimate sets, the X-Men: Days of Future Past figures will come with movie-specific accessories for each character. Look for these to arrive this summer.

Diamond Select Toys Products Announced for Summer/Fall 2014

They’re coming! The newest assortment of The Walking Dead Minimates, based on the hit comic book by Robert Kirkman, is almost here, and Toys R Us will have an exclusive assortment of the 2-inch mini-figures, featuring an array of all-new characters and zombies!

Four two-packs will be exclusively available at Toys “R” Us and on toysrus.com as part of Series 5, available this spring:

Traveler Rick Grimes and Business Zombie
Riot Gear Michonne and Hitchhiker Zombie
Abraham Ford and Military Zombie
Eugene Porter and Emaciated Zombie

Each Minimate stands 2 inches tall and features a variety of interchangeable parts and accessories, including weapons for all the human characters and decomposing parts for all the zombies!
