Soldiers have come, sent by governments fearful that another will be the first to benefit from a vaccine harvested from young Daisy Ogami’s blood. In the middle of the Pacific, an ambush takes place. But Daisy’s protector, the android Itto, is ready with a counterambush . . . The blood spilled will not be Daisy’s!

As the thrall are strangely absent in this issue, they are replaced by a violent group of soldiers who have lost their purpose. Of course Itto and Daisy, along with their ship are attacked by these mysterious soldiers. While the soldiers don’t have any indication if they work for any of the countries that survived the T-Virus, it leads one to wonder who they are working for. I wonder how that will be explored in further issues, as Itto, and Daisy continue their way to Japan.
The manga inspired art syle continues, as the western influence is present in the way the environment is drawn. I will admit the flashbacks are superb in their execution, as the story reveals how the Encoms came to be. Along with the various models, that have to pass for human. It is a impressive thing to see how, despite the different functionally of the Encoms, they manage to look relatively similar.
