Won’t Back Down brings together dozens of comic creators to champion an individual’s right to choose

In 1973, the Supreme Court gave women the right to make decisions over the care of their own bodies. A mere fifty years later, a rogue Supreme Court has taken that right away. Today, over 32 states have banned or severely restricted abortion.

We’re fighting back as best we can, with pens and brushes, paper and ink, and have produced a pro-choice anthology: Won’t Back Down, featuring the work of over 30 artists, writers, inkers, and colorists, and profits are being given to Planned Parenthood.

With Won’t Back Down, Trina Robbins has created an important anthology that celebrates women who fight for justice – for anyone interested in women’s rights, free speech, or simply great comics.

In addition to Robbins, contributors to the anthology include Lee Marrs, Alison Sampson, Steve Leialoha, Ken Steacy, Barbara Randall Kesel, Yanick Paquette, Signe Wilkinson, Christopher Golden, Marguerite Sauvage, Gene Ha, Carrie Tupper, Todd Klein, Twyla Dawn Weixl, Sabrina Jones, Stephanie Cooke, Leeann Hamilton, Jennifer Camper, Sydney Heifler, Kate Charlesworth, Dave McCaig, Deanna Soukiasian, Grace Gordon, Joelle Barreto, Isabelle Struble, Grace Desmarais, Tony Parker, Bridgit Connell, Michelle Madsen, Janice Chiang, Jessica Balboni, Perl Barry, Jennifer Camper, Eve Furchgott, Sharon Rudahl, Dee Cunniffe, Sayra Begum, Sofie Dodgson, Robert Triptow, Lisa Sharkey, Wesley Wong, Dominike “Domo” Stanton, Tom Orzechowski, Emily Bowen Cohen, Amy Chase, Dani Coleman, and Rori!

Angela Slatter joins Mike Mignola for Castle Full of Blackbirds

This September, legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and acclaimed artist Valeria Burzo will be joined by award-winning novelist Angela Slatter for Castle Full of Blackbirds, an all-new miniseries from Dark Horse Comics. The four-issue miniseries will mark Slatter’s comic-book writing debut. Mignola, Slatter, and Burzo will be joined by colorist Michelle Madsen, letterer Clem Robins, and cover artist Wylie Beckert. When Sara May headed for New York after the events of The Return of Effie Kolb, she had one goal in mind: find the mysterious Miss Brook at the Linton School for Girls, and ask her what she knows about the mysterious powers that have plagued Sara May her whole life. But as is often the case with these things, the answers are not as simple as all that. Sara May is in for an education in more than just reading, writing, and ’rithmetic at the Linton School.

Castle Full of Blackbirds #1 will be published by Dark Horse Comics on September 14, 2022.

Hellboy Tangles with the Silver Lantern Club in October

“Who stood against the forces of darkness in the days long before Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.?”

This October, Dark Horse Comics will debut Hellboy: The Silver Lantern Club, an all-new 5-issue comic book series by legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and bestselling iZombie co-creator Chris Roberson, featuring art by Christopher Mitten and Ben Stenbeck, with colors by Michelle Madsen. Each stand-alone issue of the series focuses on a different Victorian occult investigator who battled evil years before Hellboy was on the scene.

In the debut issue, Hellboy learns about the mysteries of an exorcism gone wrong and more when his occult investigator relative reveals secretive and perilous adventures of one of the Hellboy Universe’s most mysterious societies. Silver Lantern Club member Simon Bruttenholm relates a tale from the dawn of radio, in which Sir Edward Grey and Sarah Jewel go toe to toe with . . . technology?

Each issue will follow Hellboy and Trevor Bruttenholm, drawn by Stenbeck, as they hear a new occult adventure from the Silver Lantern Club’s history, drawn by Mitten.

Just in time for Halloween, co-writers Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson expand the Hellboy universe with a new tale of strange spiritual happenings. Hellboy: The Silver Lantern Club issue 1will be published by Dark Horse Comics on October 27, 2021 as a full-colored 32-page comic. Mignola, Mitten, and award-winning colorist Dave Stewart provide the cover for the debut issue.
