Matt Trakker Takes on the Full Force of V.E.N.O.M. in M.A.S.K. #6

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have shared a first look at preview pages and covers from M.A.S.K. #6. From the creative team of writer Dan Watters, artist Pye Parr, colorist Pierluigi Casolino, and letterer Rus Wooton, one chapter ends, but the mission is far from over. M.A.S.K. #6 brings the current arc to a close on November 4, 2026, with Matt Trakker facing even more mayhem ahead! 

Matt Trakker—can you really save the world? When the full force of V.E.N.O.M. is unleashed, can he step up and be the leader the Energon Universe needs? 

M.A.S.K.’s series debut took the comic book industry by storm with its robust blind bag program, introducing ROM to Skybound’s Energon Universe comics, and the series continues to surprise fans with unexpected first appearances. 

In addition to the main cover by Pye Parr, the lineup of variant covers for M.A.S.K. #6 includes a connecting cover by Karl Kerschl, an open-to-order cover by Nick Bradshaw and Jim Charalampidis, and incentive variant covers by Homare and David Lafuente.

NYCC 2026: Major Energon Universe Comics Reveals. Warning Spoilers!

At the official Energon Universe comics panel at New York Comic Con this past weekend, Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro, revealed highly anticipated news from Transformers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K. and Void Rivals, featuring Robert Kirkman, Jason Howard, Tom Reilly, Conor Hughes, Dan Watters, and Ben Abernathy. 

Recently celebrating its third anniversary and having sold over 7.6 million copies, the Energon Universe comics continues to bring readers into comic shops, and this year’s panel was packed with new reveals and shocking first appearances of fan-favorite characters and teams! 

The world of Transformers has changed over the last year as Robert Kirkman and the industry’s top artists introduced us to Elita Prime, Arcee Magnus, a new Superion and more. What’s next? 

  • Megatron becomes Megatronus Rex this Fall. 
  • Beachcomber – along with guest artist Howard Porter – take the spotlight in January’s issue #40. 
  • And in March, the MOST REQUESTED Energon Universe Comics debut is here, as the Dinobots make their first appearance in issue #42.

Meanwhile, within the pages of Void Rivals, the series that launched the Energon Universe, the surprises continue. 

  • December’s Void Rivals #37 kicks off the “Pit of Destruction” arc as Darak, Solila, and Pythona journey back to Cobra-La on Earth…but new dangers await. 
  • Lobotomaxx will make their Energon Universe comics debut when Void Rivals #40 arrives in March.

Coming back to Earth with M.A.S.K., series writer Dan Watters discussed the Baron Karza cameo and teased what’s to come. 

  • Fan-favorite G.I. Joe characters “Battle Force 2000” make their Energon Universe comics debut in M.A.S.K., as revealed on the cover to January’s issue #8. 
  • This includes an all-new, bionic version of Maverick…but how does this connect to M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M.?

G.I. Joe is in the middle of its biggest arc yet as the war with Night Force rages on. While we can’t tell who wins, we can tease who may look a little different when the dust settles.

  • One of the most shocking moments of the panel was the reveal that Baroness will become an agent of Cobra in January’s G.I. Joe #30. 
  • Tom Reilly debuted additional characters designs, as Ben Abernathy revealed that this big change has been the plan since Day One.

M.A.S.K. Streetwear Variant Covers by Fadime Yildirim Bring the Heat

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have revealed streetwear variant covers by artist Fadime Yildirim starting with M.A.S.K. #7 and continuing through M.A.S.K. #12. 

Following her gorgeous G.I. Joe streetwear variant series, Fadime Yildirim is back with expertly styled variant covers each featuring a member of the M.A.S.K. network with unique, customized keychains and will be available as 1:25 incentive variants across six can’t-miss issues that begin this December. 

M.A.S.K. #7 kicks off a new action-packed story arc for the hit Energon Universe series from writer Dan Watters, artist Pye Parr, colorist Pierluigi Casolino, and letterer Rus Wooton, landing in comic book shops on December 2, 2026. 

T-BOB…WHAT IS YOUR FUNCTION? M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M., no one may trust Matt Trakker ever again.

The First-Ever Energon Universe Comics Manga Variant Covers Arrive in December

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have announced a spectacular set of manga variant covers for their Energon Universe comics from acclaimed manga artists Satoshi Shiki and Manabu Yashiro. 

These first-of-their-kind Energon Universe manga comic covers will be available as 1:50 incentive variants in the E cover slot for the December Energon Universe comic issues M.A.S.K. #7, Transformers #39, G.I. Joe #29, and Void Rivals #37. Fans can collect all four manga variant covers at your local comic shop, beginning with M.A.S.K. #7 on December 2, 2026! 

These first-ever manga variant covers to grace the Energon Universe comics will span a thrilling lineup of issues this December. M.A.S.K. #7 kicks off a new story arc with Scott Trakker in the middle of the action, Transformers #39 features Optimus against a surprising foe, G.I. Joe #29 delivers the final Night Force fight and the end of G.I. Joe as we know it, while Void Rivals #37 begins the all-new Pit of Destruction story arc for Darak and Solila.

Upper Deck and Hasbro announce a Licensing Agreement for trading cards and games and starting with a Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Special Edition trading card set

Upper Deck and Hasbro have announced a new licensing deal that will bring memorable moments and characters from Transformers, Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Jem and the Holograms, and other fan-favorite properties to trading cards and games designed for long-time enthusiasts and collectors alike. The debut product through this new collaboration will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie, with a special trading card set honoring the lasting impact of the beloved franchise.

Hasbro itself is a game company and in 2024 released a trading card set with Dynamite celebrating the 40th anniversary of Transformers. As far as games, Transformers did have a trading card game released by Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast that lasted from 2018 to 2020. It currently has a deck-building game a tabletop roleplaying game currently produced by Renegade Game Studios.

Alongside the 40th Anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie in August, and the nationally celebrated “Transformers Day” on September 17, Upper Deck is releasing a Transformers 40th Anniversary Special Edition trading card set in September, which will be available exclusively at Target. The set brings the legendary Autobots and Decepticons to life through cinematic poster-inspired trading cards. Every box will include the complete base set, alongside a “Stellar System” insert series featuring fan-favorite characters against a galaxy backdrop. Fans and collectors can also chase a range of eye-catching parallels and autographed cards from Peter Cullen, the iconic voice of Optimus Prime. 

Expanding the collaboration further, later this year fans can also look forward to the The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary trading card set under Upper Deck’s iconic Fleer brand, known for its timeless trading card designs and nostalgic appeal among collectors. The 100-card base set highlights memorable characters and scenes from the film across Fleer-inspired base and parallel designs. Inserts include “From Screen to Page” themed around artwork from the 20th anniversary IDW comic series, “More Than Meets the Eye” flip lenticular cards that showcase characters in both robot mode and vehicle mode, and “Instruments of Destruction” 3D lenticular cards that highlight the Decepticons and other villains from the film. The set also features autograph cards from select voice actors. 

The upcoming The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary trading card lineup marks only the beginning of this collaboration between Hasbro and Upper Deck, with future collections inspired by Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Jem and the Holograms, and more on the horizon.

Baron Karza Makes Shocking Energon Universe Comics Debut in M.A.S.K. #3

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have revealed the landmark first Energon Universe comic appearance of the infamous Micronauts villain Baron Karza in M.A.S.K. #3. From the creative team of writer Dan Watters, artist Pye Parr, colorist Pierluigi Casolino, and letterer Rus Wooton. M.A.S.K. #3 is out now in comic shops.  

M.A.S.K.’s series debut blind bag program introduced ROM to Skybound’s Energon Universe, and the series continues to surprise fans with unexpected first appearances.  

Now, the new M.A.S.K. series revealed Miles Mayhem’s secret ally is none other than Baron Karza, whose first appearance portends dark plans for Mayhem’s retaliation against Matt Trakker…and his son Scotty.
