Superman Unlimited #2 is much like the first, entertaining but not exciting

Superman Unlimited #2

Superman faces a brave new world–radical change sweeps the globe, and the ramifications of the Kryptonite asteroid reach a fever pitch! The epicenter of this new Kryptonite power reverberates from the Emerald City–a nation-state positioned atop a massive stockpile of this incredible natural resource and ruled with an iron fist by the Kryptonite King and his dreaded Krypto-Knights! Can Superman hope to continue his fight for truth and justice with Kryptonite flooding the streets with danger? Plus: the Daily Planet’s expansion continues, and Gorilla City’s representative joins the team! Superman Unlimited #2 is a perfectly fine comic with some interesting aspects but just doesn’t stand out from so much out there.

Written by Dan Slott, I’ve been looking forward to this series since it was announced. But, two issues in, it doesn’t really stand out from all of the other Superman comics out there. Slott has shaken things up a bit have a Kryptonite asteroid’s crashing on Earth cause the rock to be plentiful. An entire nation has built itself up due to it this using Kryptonite much like Wakanda uses Vibranium. In that sense the story isn’t original, but the fact that the material is such an impact on Superman opens up potential and opportunity of where it all might be going. Slott has a solid attention for detail and what’s teased throughout the issue opens up what will hopefully be a strong showing down the road.

The art by Rafael Albuquerque is solid. With color by Marcel Maiolo and lettering by Dave Sharpe, there’s are times the comic has a classic feel about it. Albuquerque’s style has hints of classic adventures with poses and an overall look that has a hint of what was. There’s a cheeriness to it all with the colors keeping the comic bright and full of energy, a positive vibe that matches the core of its main character.

Superman Unlimited #2 is that comic that’s a fine edition to the read pile but it’s not one you’ll be going back to over and over. It’s entertaining but not exciting. It’s a perfectly fine Superman story so far, but one that feels like it’s a story arc in-between the major storylines and events. Superman Unlimited #2 is good but its slow start doesn’t quite hook readers.

Superman Unlimited by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque launches May 2025

DC has announced Superman Unlimited by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque, launching on May 21, 2025. Dan Slott, known for his expansive world-building as the writer of Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, She-Hulk, Mighty Avengers, Superior Spider-Man and more, makes his DC ongoing comic book series debut with Superman Unlimited.

Superman Unlimited will be a driving force and key title in DC’s upcoming All In “Summer of Superman” publishing initiative, along with DC’s Action Comics and Superman comic book series, and more. It will feature limited and ongoing series starring Superboy, Supergirl, Krypto, and more, and the event will highlight DC’s deep roster of Superman-related characters. Look for more “Summer of Superman” news in the coming weeks!

The new ongoing series will launch with a 10-page prelude by Slott and Albuquerque in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 on Saturday, May 3, as part of DC’s Free Comic Book Day programming. This is the perfect time for both regular comic book readers and new readers to jump on board for an all-new era for Superman!

To kick off DC’s Superman Unlimited series in May, a massive extinction-level Kryptonite asteroid showers Superman’s greatest weakness down upon the earth, creating an arms race for the new most valuable resource on the planet: Green K. The greater availability of Kryptonite in the DC Universe changes the balance of power in the criminal empires of Metropolis and across the globe: Intergang, under new leadership, is on the rise, with practically all their foot soldiers carrying at least one clip of Kryptonite bullets on them. The asteroid left massive Kryptonite deposits to be mined, and it houses unlimited horrors yet to be unpacked. To survive, Superman will need to forge new alliances, new tech and new tactics if he hopes to carry on his quest for truth, justice and a better tomorrow!

Superman Unlimited won’t just provide Superman’s nemeses with near-unlimited Kryptonite: the Daily Planet gets an upgrade. A merger with a new incarnation of Morgan Edge’s Galaxy Communications expands the Daily Planet brand into a multimedia news platform with a cable news channel, website, strong social media presence, and—yes—Lois Lane is still editor in chief. Daily Planet regulars Jimmy Olsen, Ron Troupe, Cat Grant and Steve Lombard will staff satellite branches across the DC universe, creating a global network. Behind it all is the tech savvy of a new IT specialist from Gorilla City, King Solovar’s goddaughter, Tee-Nah.

Superman Unlimited #1, written by Dan Slott with art and cover by Rafael Albuquerque and Marcelo Maiolo, that will retail at $4.99 US while card stock variants will retail at $5.99 US.

Titan Announces Dishonored Comics!

Titan Books and Bethesda Softworks have announced a multi-platform publishing partnership for Dishonored 2, the next chapter in the award-winning Dishonored saga by Arkane Studios. This includes three original novels, an all-new new four part comic mini-series, and a graphic novel collection that will bridge the story of events between Dishonored and Dishonored 2.

The first official Dishonored tie-in comic in the series from Titan Comics will release in August 2016. Three additional installments in the comic series will follow, releasing in September and October. The series will be collected together for a graphic novel, which will be available in November 2016.

The city of Dunwall; whaling capital of Gristol and industrial hub of the Empire of the Isles.

Twelve years have passed since Corvo Attano scuppered the Lord Regent’s duplicitous plot against the crown and cleared his name of the Empress Jessamine’s murder.

Now a little older and perhaps a little wiser, Corvo sets his sights on the future and securing an apprentice to continue his legacy.  But when confronted by an impossible face from his past, the supernaturally-gifted assassin finds himself drawn once again into an otherworldly conspiracy, one that threatens to shake the very foundations of his ancient city.

Series writer Gordon Rennie is a stalwart of the UK comic scene whose writing credits include the original series, White Trash, as well as his work for cult magazine, 2000 AD, on iconic characters and properties, including Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper. Rennie is joined by artists Andrea Olimpieri (pencils/inks) and Marcelo Maiolo (colourist).

Titan Books will publish Dishonored – The Corroded Man in September 2016, the first in a series of three books by Adam Christopher. The first book will be followed by two forthcoming novels, scheduled to be released in 2017, that will continue the adventures of the game’s protagonists – Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin.

Dishonored – The Corroded Man takes place following the events of Dishonored, Arkane’s blockbuster action-adventure game, which released in 2012 to huge critical and commercial success, and bridges the story through to the highly-anticipated Dishonored 2.
