THEY WANT THE BIONIC WOMAN.

or… more to the point, they want both her legs, her right arm, and whatever other surprises she might contain. Just because they could rebuild her… doesn’t mean her life isn’t a wreck. After Jaime Sommers suffers a horrific parachute accident, her then-boyfriend… Steve Austin… convinces his superiors to save her life using similar bionic parts to the ones that made him the Bionic Man. The doctors / scientists replace both Jaime’s legs. Her right arm. Her ear. And a few other surprises. Now, she’s the Bionic Woman, and her body is faster, and stronger, but much of the memory of her past life is missing. She has broken up with Steve, and no longer works as a field operative for the Office of Scientific Intelligence. She’s moved on, searching for a new life amidst the wreckage of the old. But old lives have a way of popping back up again, and when the recipients of the earliest bionic prototypes are being killed across the globe, horribly murdered with their bionic parts stolen, Jaime has to put her new life in Paris on hold. Especially since it now looks like the mysterious killers are done with the small fry… done with stealing bionic hands from schoolchildren, bionic hearts from spider monkeys, or bionic eyes from housewives. No… now they want the highest quality bionic parts. They want the upgrade. They want the Bionic Woman.

January 11, 2011, Runnemede, NJ – Following the success of their popular The Bionic Man ongoing series, Dynamite Entertainment is releasing The Bionic Woman #1.  Written by Paul Tobin and drawn by Leno Carvalho, with an amazing cover by Paul Renaud, The Bionic Woman #1 hits stores in March 2012!  The Bionic Woman ongoing series is licensed through NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group.

Paris is the City of love? Not anymore… not since Jaime Sommers, The Bionic Woman, came to town hot on the trail of “The Mission”, a collection of insanely high-priced surgeons who’ve been murdering OSI’s bionic prototypes in order to provide new life for billionaire patients. But while “The Bionic Woman” is hunting The Mission, its #1 hunter is after her! Can Jaime pick up the pieces of her past while protecting her life in the present, or will the City of Love turn its back, and its bullets, on The Bionic Woman? Acclaimed writer Paul Tobin brings you a tale of baguettes, bullets, and bionic badass!   Be sure to get The Bionic Woman #1 in March 2012!

“It’s a big booming blast of a look at the woman behind the bionics,” says writer Paul Tobin. “…a chance for myself and Jaime Sommers to team up, cut loose, knock some things around and then high-five when the dust is still settling.”

“We are very happy to be working with Paul, and have a few other things in the works with him,” adds Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci.  “He’s made a name for himself producing solid comics and now that The Bionic Woman has come along, we think he’s going to reach a whole new audience. We welcome fans to come along for the ride!”

The Bionic Woman is an American television series, from Universal Television, that aired for three seasons between 1976 and 1978 as a spin off from “The Six Million Dollar Man.” Lindsay Wagner starred as tennis pro Jaime Sommers, who was nearly killed in a skydiving accident. Sommers’ life was saved by Oscar Goldman and Dr. Rudy Wells, with “bionic” surgical implants similar to those of The Six Million Dollar Man, Steve Austin. As the result of Jaime’s bionics, she has amplified hearing in her right ear, a greatly strengthened right arm, and stronger, enhanced legs which enable her to run at up to 60 miles per hour.

Paul Tobin is a comic book writer whose best known works include: The Age of the Sentry, Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four, Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes, Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man, and other titles predominantly for Marvel Comics.  Paul Tobin’s comics career started with the all ages mini-series Banana Sunday (under the pseudonym Paul Nobit) from Oni Press. The 4-issue series, about a young girl attending a new school while caring for 3 talking monkeys, was illustrated by Tobin’s wife, Colleen Coover.  Tobin later began writing for Marvel with the all-ages imprint, Marvel Adventures. His first title in that imprint was the Fantastic Four, but he would also write the Avengers, Super Heroes, and most prominently Spider-Man. Some of his latest work has included the King Size Spider-Man Summer Special which he again collaborated on with his wife, Colleen.
