Keith Davidsen has joined Mad Cave Studios as the new Director of Marketing!

Keith Davidsen will partner with Allison Marie Pond to oversee all marketing efforts for Mad Cave. He worked director-level positions at IDW Publishing, Dynamite Entertainment, and Avatar Press, and served as a brand manager at Diamond Comic Distributors. He is a familiar and friendly face to creators, journalists, and retailers, and has had writing credits on such titles as Godzilla, Evil Ernie, Reanimator, Pink Panther, and Poison Elves.

Seattle, 2008. Networked computers and video game consoles have connected millions across the globe in virtual combat… and an insidious intelligence has taken notice. The insectoid Nebulans, would-be conquerors of Earth, have hijacked the MMOs and uploaded the collective fighting techniques and strategy of gamers worldwide directly into the central processing unit of their cyborg champion. What chance does Godzilla have at victory when the vicious opponent Gigan has been augmented by the savagery of all humanity?

Something bad is coming, something that could kill Heaven, Hell, and Earth itself: The Godeater. And the only thing standing its way is… Evil Ernie? Justin Jordan, the Harvey Award-winning writer of such horror hits as The Strange Talent of Luther Strode and Shadowman, joins artist sensation Colton Worley to deliver an event so epic in scope, it promises to shake the very foundations of the Chaos! Comics universe!

As an added bonus, Evil Ernie: Godeater includes “Last Ditch Bitch”, a short story by Keith Davidsen and Cezar Razek. The lead singer of a Scandinavian Death Metal band becomes an unwitting pawn in Ragnarok, as guest stars Mistress Hel and Chastity go to war!

Review: Evil Ernie: Godeater #5

The Godeater has defeated the Hosts of Heaven, the Armies of Hell, and the warriors of Valhalla. The end of all things is here, unless Ernie can destroy something that can’t be destroyed. It’s the fearsome finale to Justin Jordan’s Chaos Comics epic… and perhaps the most senses-shattering event in Ernest Fairchild’s un-life! Meanwhile, our “Last Ditch Bitch” back-up series comes to its explosive conclusion, as Chastity and Mistress Hel throw down over the fate of singer Liv Halvorsen!

Victory always comes at a price, and Evil Ernie: Godeater #5, the final issue, fulfills that well. The issue forces Ernie to do the unthinkable if they are to survive the Godeater. Even if the plan for victory is a little odd in its nature. The back-up story reaches its own gory end as well.

Like the other issues in this run, the art is stunning and visceral. It layers in a lot of contrast in both the characters and the background. The dual artists also manages to give a clear distinction of stories in the process.

Review: Evil Ernie: Godeater #4

Hell has gone to hell with the arrival of the Godeater, and Ernie has one last chance to stop it before it’s too late: he has to bring Heaven down to the pits! Justin Jordan, fan-favorite writer of The Strange Case of Luther Strode, continues his mind-blowing Chaos Comics epic! Meanwhile, in Chapter Four of our “Last Ditch Bitch” back-up story: How do you save death metal rocker Liv Halvorsen from the goddess Mistress Hel? Special guest star Chastity wrestles with the dilemma… while fighting tooth and nail against the Dead Onez!

The gods of old realize they must unite if they wish to survive the Godeater. The alliance is uneasy and Ernie is caught in the center of it. He’s forced to lead the army of the undead against the Godeater using the power of Hel. It seems like writers Justin Jordan and Keith Davidsen have saved the best for last with only one issue remaining.

Like the previous issues, the art is by Colton Worley and Cezar Razek is stunning and almost sublime. I will admit the Norman Rockwell influenced cover is a nice touch for this fan favorite Chaos comics creation. It feels like a blanket hiding the dark tale that lurks within its pages.

Dr. Herbert West, The Reanimator, returns! Setting up shop in New Orleans, the brilliant Dr. West continues his life’s work: the revival of the dead by purely chemical means. To accomplish this task, he recruits Susan Greene, a young and wide-eyed pharmacologist fascinated by his macabre experiments. Initially unfazed by West’s unorthodox practices (including how he funds his research – by selling zombie brain fluid as a narcotic), Susan may regret her scientific curiosity as sinister forces – those aligned with Elder Gods and Haitian Voodoo – begin to align against the Reanimator. Dynamite Entertainment proudly resurrects H.P Lovecraft’s notorious mad scientist in a fear-fraught tale of Cthulhu tentacle terror and backwater Louisianan superstition!

Bonus features:
A thorough “History of The Reanimator” prose introduction by writer Keith Davidsen.
An insightful and meticulously researched appendix of Lovecraftian references and creator commentary,
Never-before-seen design illustrations from artist Randy Valiente, and
A complete cover gallery featuring the work of Francesco Francavilla, Jae Lee, Andrew Mangum, and more.
