Vampirella Takes on a Legion of Heroes in Vampirella vs. The Superpowers!

This May, Dynamite rolls out a new chapter in the Powers Saga by superstar writer Dan Abnett, as he brings Vampirella to the forefront once more for a thrilling new title that fully questions whether the Daughter of Drakulon can fill a traditional superhero role, in Vampirella vs. The Superpowers!

It’s full-throttle throwback action, as fan-favorite artist Pasquale Qualano joins Abnett for an adventure that finds Vampirella and her new trusty sidekick Dyna Might investigating a mysterious world. This planet appears strangely similar to our own Earth of the 1940s. That includes the crime, corruption, but also in the Superpowers mythos, a legion of Golden Age superheroes. They won’t be taking too kindly to meddling from an interdimensional vampire alien either!

Being a superhero is bloodthirsty work, and this will be one of Vampirella’s biggest battles in her fifty-plus years. Can she survive the hard-boiled menace posed by both villains and heroes alike? Can she keep her precocious sidekick alive to tell the tale? And at the heart of it all, will she be able to solve the mystery and save a world in danger?

The series is fronted by a jaw-dropping gorgeous cover featuring Vampirella by the sensational Sozomaika. Other artists contributing covers for the series include Lesley “Leirix” Li, Junggeun Yoon, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Rebeca Puebla.

The Lion King’s Scar roars into comics with Disney Villains: Scar by Chuck Brown and Trevor Fraley!

The Pride Lands are home to many, but few are as fearsome as the one and only Scar! Brother of Mufasa and uncle of the young Simba, Dynamite presents an untold chapter from the iconic character’s legacy alongside writer Chuck Brown, artist Trevor Fraley, and more.

This captivating new story is set within the world of The Lion King between scenes from the iconic original film. With Simba’s iconic birth, it has fully set in that Scar is never meant to be king while his brother and nephew inhabit Pride Rock. Unable to accept that fate, the imposing, corrupt lion begins to formulate devious plans. This journey will bring him face-to-face with the mysterious and fan-favorite shaman Rafiki. What more could be revealed in this first-ever spotlight on the character?

Fans can learn more about this chapter in the tapestry by picking up Disney Villains: Scar #1 this April and preordering it with their Local Comic Shop starting in late January and February. The series debuts with a special extra-sized 27-page story, but sticking at the regular cover price of just $3.99! Due to scheduling, Dynamite can also note that a collected edition of this series will not be available before at least summer 2025.

Fans keeping track of all the colorful characters in the Lion King mythos will be excited to see some interact together that never do in the film. Which characters from Mufasa’s inner circle may have actually thought Scar could be a better heir? Brown and Fraley will also be introducing the new characters of the Wake, a pack of winged foes whose scheming and cunning is second only to Scar. Dynamite invites fans to discover a whole new side of the Pride Lands.

In addition to the thrilling original story and Fraley’s fitting artwork, Dynamite presents a set of gorgeous variant covers for fans and collectors on the title. Jahnoy Lindsay leads the pack with a pitch perfect take on the protagonist. Other covers are contributed by Karen Darboe, Erica Henderson, Junggeun Yoon, Gene Ha, and David Nakayama, with more to be revealed!

Meet Dejah Thoris – Thousands of Years Before John Carter!

Dynamite Entertainment has announced a bold all-new vision of the Princess of Mars coming this March! Writer Chuck Brown returns to chronicle an untold chapter set before the events of the first classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

A young princess Dejah has lived a sheltered existence so far, growing up safe behind vast and thick palace walls and guarded by the greatest warriors in the land. That is, until one fateful day that changes the course of her life forever. The entire royal family is attacked by the horrific Kaldane Martians one day. The princess narrowly escapes, but now finds herself in the harsh wilds of Barsoom. She will have no recourse but to strike out on a quest to find her way back and save her kingdom.

Set a few thousand years before Dejah meets the fabled John Carter, fans will get to see her grow and discover herself beyond being a pampered princess. Alongside allies like her former Helium servant and close friend Roo, and a young Green Martian named Hudd, Dejah will hone her skills and become a warrior and champion of her people as well. She will learn more about the diverse peoples and creatures of her world, shedding her preconceived notions that her sheltered education instilled in her. Oh, and watch out for the kangaroo men and man-eating Calot trees too!

Eisner nominated writer Chuck Brown returns to the world of Barsoom, following his series John Carter Of Mars – which is solicited as a graphic novel alongside this new series. He’s joined by stellar artist Emiliana Pinna, colorist Ellie Wright and letterer Jeff Eckleberry.

In addition to Pinna and the rest of the creative team, a who’s who of top talents continue that artistic legacy with the variant covers available on this new series. Lesley “Leirix” Li leads the way, alongside Joseph Michael Linsner, Junggeun Yoon, Rebeca Puebla, Joshua “Sway” Swaby. Cosplayer Rachel Hollon also contributes a cover portraying the character. Young rising artist Jade Hope, daughter of YouTuber Gem Mint Collectibles, also makes her major direct market debut on the first issue!

Dejah Thoris #1 is slated for release in March 2023.
