Can Batman and Lex set aside their differences to stop them? Justice League: Knight Vision Special #1 might set up what’s to come for DC’s “All In,” but it stands out on its own as a really solid one-shot special.
Written by Mark Waid and Joshua Williamson, Justice League: Knight Vision Special #1 has Batman and Lex Luthor teaming up to stop an illegal weapons purchase but why this? Where did the weapons come from? Who’s the buyer? Waid and Williamson delivers some answers and more mystery as the issue builds off of teases that have been spread out throughout the DC line and pointing to an eventual return of Darkseid.
Justice League: Knight Vision Special #1 is entertaining on its own as Batman and Luthor are a fun duo to play off each other. Both have a vision of how to bring about “peace,” both are rather gruff, both are highly intelligent, and both feel their way is the right way. It’s a team-up that feels out of place but by the end is really entertaining and a hell of a lot of fun. The villain is solid. The progression of the story is engaging. And it’s easy to get into, even if you haven’t been paying attention to DC’s meta story that’s going on.
Part of the comic’s solid delivery is the art from Miguel Mendonça. With color by Romulo Fajardo Jr. and lettering by Steve Wands, the comic has a funhouse quality to it with some good scares and a lot of twisting visuals that’ll keep you sucked in to the visuals. There’s some fantastic art as Batman and Lex go further into the twisted house they’ve been sucked into and even when they’re not on a visual trip, the panels look fantastic with some great detail and coloring that stands out.
Justice League: Knight Vision Special #1 is a comic that might get overlooked this week but it’s one that’s well worth checking out. The art is top notch and story is entertaining, especially the back and forth between Luthor and Batman. You don’t need to care about, or know, the DC meta story to enjoy the comic. It stands on its own while adding something for the hardcore fans.

At the official Energon Universe comics panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) this weekend, Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro revealed an all-new trailer, new covers and character designs from the shared universe in a panel featuring Robert Kirkman, Joshua Williamson, Conor Hughes, and Sean Mackiewicz.
Recently celebrating its third anniversary, the Energon Universe comics have proven to be unstoppable, and this year’s panel was packed with new reveals, unexpected teasers, and an exclusive M.A.S.K. wristband giveaway for the SDCC audience, who were also granted an exclusive debut of the all-new trailer!
M.A.S.K. has long been planned as the fourth entry in Energon Universe comics and the panel celebrated the recent launch of the high-octane series from writer Dan Watters and artist Pye Parr. While the audience activated their M.A.S.K. network wristbands and awaited Matt Trakker’s orders, they were shown new character designs for iconic M.A.S.K. characters Trakker’s son Scott, and his trusty protector T-Bob, who will be introduced in upcoming issues of M.A.S.K.
Following the explosive events of the Quintesson War, Void Rivals has entered a new chapter and series artist Conor Hughes joined co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman to discuss ROM’s upcoming arrival in the Sacred Ring. The audience was treated to the reveal of character designs for bounty hunter Predacron and hints of what’s to come in Void Rivals’ next story arc, including new artist Frank Mazzoli!
G.I. Joe kicks off its biggest story arc yet with an extra-sized issue #25 releasing in August and writer Joshua Williamson was on hand to give insight into the key moments that led to G.I. Joe vs. Night Force. Then the all-new Cobra character named Major Medusa was revealed to the world for the first time, including a look at her stunning new character design, with some hints as to what her role might be in the coming issues with G.I. Joe #26 covers featured on screen.
Transformers has proven to be a series true to its title with several key characters experiencing significant changes in recent issues. Robert Kirkman described the process of taking the series in new and unexpected directions with characters introduced across different iterations of Transformers over the years—like Superion, featured in the #36 main cover with newly christened Autobot Thundercracker as his new arm. Energon Universe comics architects Kirkman and Sean Mackiewicz also teased the future of the Transformers, how far Elita Prime might go to win the war, and announced Karl Kerschl will be the guest artist on issue #37.
As the cops close in, Adam must convince his father that monsters do exist…before the full moon rises again.

Armageddon has fallen upon the Marvel Universe and a bold new age awaits the survivors! Writers Chip Zdarsky and Joshua Williamson took to the stage of the Avengers: Armageddon panel at San Diego Comic-Con to reveal new information about the final issue of Avengers: Armageddon, the climax of the current story in Captain America, the second arc of the new Avengers series and two new story arcs from the ongoing Iron Man series.
The Marvel Universe is at a turning point. After General Thunderbolt Ross, aka the Red Hulk, led an army of gamma-enhanced soldiers in a hostile effort to “spread democracy” across Europe, the Avengers dispatched their team to put an end to Ross’ conquest despite protest from the United Nations. David Colton, a former Captain America who recently received a vast power upgrade from the mysterious Origin Boxes, engaged Ross in a highly destructive battle resulting in collateral damage. In the aftermath of that battle, the Red Hulk was captured and removed to Russia by the Winter Guard while Iron Man discovered a highly dangerous piece of technology left behind that can show the user visions of possible futures.
The discovery of this machine and the consequences of Red Hulk and Colton’s battle will be explored in upcoming issues of Avengers: Armageddon and change how everyone in the Marvel Universe feels about super heroes… while setting the stage for November’s The Avengers #1 by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto.
Prior to the events of Avengers: Armageddon, Steve Rogers confronted the Red Hulk and was placed into a coma for his efforts. Steve’s soul was then captured and pulled down into Hell where Victor Von Doom leads an uprising against Mephisto’s forces. Together with Doom, Steve’s noble deeds cause an army of the damned seeking redemption to follow him. Mephisto isn’t taking kindly to such actions and has assembled a horde of demons to confront Rogers and Doom, led by one of Rogers’ archenemies from back on Earth, the Red Skull.
Teasing the climactic events of Captain America #16 and the possibility of regime change in the netherworld, Zdarsky has said “Steve Rogers gets the chance to redefine Hell. Easy.”
While the opening arc for the new Avengers comic series is still being kept mostly under wraps, a teaser image by Chip Zdarsky depicting a cracked Punisher skull was revealed alongside the title of the second arc: ‘The Red Line.’ Zdarsky was tight-lipped when it came to details.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing Iron Man series by writer Joshua Williamson, Tony Stark has faced one of his greatest nightmares brought to life by a vengeful Madame Masque and a new incarnation of the terrorist group A.I.M. Stark’s continued reactions to A.I.M.’s manipulations have put him under the microscope of his fellow heroes while a mysterious new figure calling themselves Citizen V implores Tony’s closest companions to distance themselves from him. With dangerous technology making it out into the wild and his increasingly reckless behavior being scrutinized by the public, Stark ends up behind bars in the hi-tech prison known as The Vault as ‘The Incarcerated Iron Man’ kicks off in December with artist Carmen Carnero.
Beginning with Part 1 of ‘The Incarcerated Iron Man’ in Iron Man #12, the series will ship twice a month with alternating story arcs and artists through March 2027, as part of the lead up to Iron Man #700. It will feature art by Carmen Carnero for even-numbered issues and odd numbered issues features art by Gleb Melnikov.
In the even-numbered issues Tony Stark is in prison. While the odd numbered issues are taken over by the ‘War Machines.’ James “Rhodey” Rhodes puts together a new team of Armored Warriors to help take down Madame Masque, Adam Ware and the new A.I.M. while Tony is locked up.
