Frantic Re-animates Long Dead Horror Content
Source Point Press has announced the debut of the first in a series of books: Frantic: Creature Feature Vault 1. This publication is part of a restoration endeavor by author and artist Joshua “Frantic” Werner, under the umbrella of his popular “Classic Pulp” series.
Frantic: Creature Feature Vault 1 is a collection of articles, essays, short stories, and comics from the exciting worlds of horror and science fiction that were previously lost to time. The specially curated collection was carefully restored and remastered by Werner himself, a “horror-storian” and self proclaimed monster movie fanatic.
The articles and stories in the book hail from a golden age of horror and science fiction, all newly edited and redesigned with new typography and even some new illustrations by Werner himself. Photos and illustrations brought out of the past have undergone a seven-step process, undoing decades of damage done to the scarce remaining copies of the original publications that monster movie fans experienced once upon a time. Amongst the contents of Vault 1 are a story of the rise of Rod Serling and The Twilight Zone, a comprehensive look at the career of Boris Karloff, a close-up look at The Day of the Triffids and This Island Earth, behind-the-scenes concept art for Planet of the Apes, a deep dive into the remarkable transformation of Lon Chaney into The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as short horror stories, comics, and more.
Frantic: Creature Feature Vault 1 was released May 29th on Amazon as well as other online book retailers and will also be made available to order at SourcePointPress.com on June 4th, 2024. Don’t miss your chance to become a part of this horror-verse and solve these thrilling murder mysteries.

Bayani and the Old Ghosts is the title of issue #1, which has already been completed. I was able to see each stage of the art process, and it looks fantastic! Grant Perkins (Penguins of Madagascar, 2000AD) is doing the penciling, inking, and coloring. Taylor Esposito, a long time letterer for DC Comics, is handling the lettering, while Rich Bloom (C.O.W.L.) designed the logos for each issue. Together the team brought Travis’ story to life, which is packed with cool visuals. The story kicks off with 11-year-old boy Bayani finding himself responsible for feeding his family as he tries to care for his sick father. The sun has been shining down on the islands for a full month without a single nightfall, causing a horrible drought that even drives the fish away from the surrounding area. Before he knows it, the rain god Pati’ has sent Bayani on a quest to rescue the daughters of Lady Moon, who have been kidnapped by horrible monsters from Filipino lore. With his friend Tala along for the journey, they must battle these monsters in hopes of ending the curse on the islands.
