A murderers’ row of famed comics creators are on board for this second volume of the Vampirella Archives, including the beginning of legendary author and editor Archie Goodwin’s work on the character, which brought new levels of depth and sophistication to Vampirella and her world, becoming some of her most treasured stories of all time.
Featuring work by Jose Gonzalez, Neal Adams, Wally Wood, Barry Windsor-Smith, Jeffrey Jones, Dennis O’Neil, Steve Englehart, Dave Cockrum, Frank Brunner, Esteban Maroto, and more, The Vampirella Archives Volume Two trade paperback collects issues #8-14 of the magazine’s original run, all encased in a beautiful cover by master artist Sanjulian.
Just in time for San Diego Comic-Con, Dynamite Entertainment has announced the fabulous fourth volume of its new paperback line of Vampirella Archivesis coming this fall in October, covering key issues showcasing the Daughter of Drakulon and anthology adventures!
Volume Four of the Archives compiles issues #22-28 of the Vampirella magazine series released originally by Warren Publishing through much of 1973. Also included is the legendary 1972 annual with one of the most important stories in the Daughter of Drakulon’s history.
The preceding third volume kicked fully into the run of artist Jose Gonzalez, the definitive vision for the character in this Warren era. That masterful work continues here in the fourth, with Gonzalez once again drawing nearly every single Vampirella proper story within. The sole exception is #26’s “Demons in the Fog!” drawn by Ramon Escolano in his sole contribution to the character, though inked by Gonzalez in keeping a consistent look while presenting a unique twist.
This new volume features several juggernauts of the Bronze Age of comics that fans of the “Big Two” publishers’ output of the era will recognize. After his first contribution last volume, Steve Englehart‘s brief run on Vampirella continues here in issues #22-23 (though he also has anthology stories in #10 and #78). The writer picking up most of the other Vampirella tales here is Bill DuBay, a longtime editor and contributor to Warren titles. Creators of the anthology stories featuring horror, science fiction, fantasy, and other genres include Doug Moench, Tony Isabella, Steve Skeates, as well as great series mainstay artists like Esteban Maroto, Jose Bea, Ramon Torrents, Rafael Auraleon.
One key inclusion is the sole non-reprint story from the annual released in 1972. The “Origin of Vampirella” by J.R. Cochran and Jose Gonzalez expands the backstory of the Daughter of Drakulon to 15 pages and further detail, as the first major retelling and twice the length of her original introduction years prior.
The next volume after this will be an exciting one, with the introduction of Pantha, a run on Vampi’s stories by writer Flaxman Loew, and the most material by legendary artist Jeffrey Catherine Jones in any volume — joined on one piece by her “The Studio” compatriot Bernie Wrightson!
These paperback printings of the comprehensive archival reprints of Vampirella’s first decade-plus-spanning title are set to release every two months, working towards the 15 volume final set. Stories are primarily in black and white.

Dynamite has announced a special Valentine’s Day treat for fans! The hotly anticipated and historical Vampirella #666 will be releasing on February 14 exactly, with a special focus in the release schedule for fans to enjoy this big moment in the character’s history.
Vampirella stands as one of the most beautiful and powerful female characters in comics for over five decades. Vampirella is love!
Vampirella has a long history of diverse and inclusive romance in her comics, and legendary writer Christopher Priest has continued that legacy in his tenure and continuing into #666 and the stories it kicks off.
Her earliest stories in the Warren era pushed against the mainstream thanks to their black and white magazine format, which allowed artists like Jose Gonzalez to depict more sensuality in his stunning style. Through the years the Daughter of Drakulon is often seen paired with Adam Van Helsing. Though in her 2017 series by Paul Cornell, Jeremy Whitley, Jimmy Broxton, Andy Belanger, and others, Vampirella’s pansexuality and relationship with Vicki are explored.
During Priest’s run, starting with her 50th anniversary in 2019, Vampirella has become entangled with friends and lovers like Victory, Mother Mary, and later her marriage to Matthew Ecsed in Unholy. Dynamite invites fans to pick up #666 this Valentine’s Day to see how the iconic heroine’s experiences in love and passion continue in this new era, as she marches toward her 700th comic book!
Vampirella #666 kicks off the new “Beyond” story arc by Christopher Priest and acclaimed Turkish artist Ergün Gündüz. The unique anniversary issue boasts 40 pages, premium cardstock covers, and a rare bonus story presenting a gem of a silent short story by Priest and Alan Davis.
2019 marks Vampirella’s 50th year as the “ultimate queen of the vampires” and Dynamite is celebrating her long history with two premium enamel pins representing her past and present. Renown illustrator, Jose Gonzalez, created one of Vampirella’s most iconic images that continues to exemplify her character to this day, making this strong and impressive pose the clear choice to represent Vampirella’s origins 50 years ago.

This definitive piece that belongs in every Vampi fan’s collection in this hallmark year for the macabre icon. The high-quality resin sculpt is produced at 1/6 scale and stands 12.5 inches tall supported by a 5.5 inches wide base of her iconic bat logo. Steve Kiwus sculpted the piece, translating it from the legendary González image.
Vampirella first appeared in an eponymous magazine put out by Warren Publishing. Debuting as a simple horror anthology hostess in the vein of peers Uncle Creepy, Cousin Eerie and the Crypt-Keeper, she exploded in popularity and fans demanded fleshed out stories. Legendary writers and artists contributed to Vampi’s history making creation. Godfather of horror and sci-fi fandom Forrest J. Ackerman came up with the concept, then underground comix legend and Wonder Woman artist Trina Robbins designed the costume, for a first cover by fantasy painting master Frank Frazetta and an interior story by Ghost Rider artist Tom Sutton.
The depth of her stories really expanded with writer/editor Archie Goodwin (Batman, Iron Man) and José González. The two introduced major supporting characters like Adam Van Helsing and Pendragon. González wowed readers with his jaw-dropping art utilizing unparalleled detail and ink washes, pushing the boundaries of the black and white magazine format. His frontispiece illustrations and occasional covers further cemented his legacy as he contributed to nearly every issue of the decades long Warren run.
The statue is also available in a black and white edition and backers can “upgrade” to get a limited edition marked and numbered Proof edition.
Other reward options and add-ons include a specially curated selection of graphic novels, art books that will perfectly complement the González and Warren era statue and enamel pins.
Also available are deluxe hardcover Vampirella Archives, an impressive 15 volume library that reprints all 112 issues of the Warren magazine restored to the highest quality. Fans can get the first five volumes together, which represent the most critically acclaimed era of González art and writer collaborators, or go all in on the entire set. That’s over 5,000 pages!
