Nothing makes a work of art more desirable and valuable to collectors than the passing of its creator, and Cherish has refined his ability to orchestrate spectacular tragedies without leaving a trace…before selling his dead protégés’ oeuvres for massive profits. Ignition Press is kicking off its first anniversary of publishing creator-driven comics this week leading up to and culminating at the biggest industry event of the year, Comic-Con International 2026 in San Diego (SDCC).
Ignition Press began publishing original series in July 2025 with its public debut at SDCC. At the Ignition Press Room—a standalone, open to the public, and free pop-up—the publisher introduced fans to seven debut series: Murder Podcast, Voyeur, Deluge, Roots of Madness, The Beauty, NO Place, and Arcadia.
On the eve of its one-year anniversary, Ignition Press has revealed a revised summer release schedule with seven new series launching over seven weeks beginning July 1st through August 12th. Additionally, Ignition Press will celebrate all its previously released or continuing series with new promotions and activations. The anniversary celebration will crescendo at SDCC 2026, where exclusives for all seven new series will be available for purchase before the celebration continues in comic shops through mid-August. Ignition Press will reveal additional details about its SDCC plans as part of its returning Ignition Sequence: SDCC 2026 marketing initiative.
The seven launching series commemorating Ignition Press’s first anniversary are:
The Dogsitter #1—a brand new rom-com treat for dog lovers from the Ares & Aphrodite team of Jamie S. Rich and Megan Levens with Nick Filardi and AndWorld Design;
Dispatched #1—an express delivery of an action thriller from B. Clay Moore and Daniel Gete with Lee Loughridge and AndWorld Design;
Minotaur #1—a groundbreaking sci-fi ongoing series for the AI Age by Si Spurrier and Mike Dowling with Sofie Dodgson and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou;

Following the success of Kill All Immortals, Masterminds,The Midnight Shadows, and Break Out, Zack Kaplan and Dark Horse Comics are continuing their partnership to offer a thrilling slate of new 2026 comic series throughout the Dark Horse 40th anniversary year. Starting with Only The Savage Are Left in June, Kaplan teams up with artist Stefano Raffaele, followed by The Smart Division with John J Pearson in late summer, before finishing out the year’s lineup with Marvel superstar artist Francesco Manna, for a finale to the story of Frey Asvald in Kill All Immortals III in the fall. The slate includes the work of Thiago Rocha, and Eisner-winning letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou alongside Eisner-winning designer Tom Muller.
Stefano Raffaele joins Kaplan, with colors by Rocha and letters by Otsmane-Elhaou, for Only The Savage Are Left, a powerful and dramatic action-adventure story where surviving the monster-apocalypse requires you to become a monster yourself.

Mark Buckingham, who is best-known and most-celebrated for his work on the long-running Vertigo title Fables, began his career in 1990 working with Neil Gaiman on Miracleman from Eclipse Comics. Working on such titles as 2000 AD, Hellblazer, and Shade, the Changing Man, he became a mainstay at DC Comics after taking over art duties on Fables with issue #6. His run on the popular imprint title has earned him four Eisner Awards, including Best New Series in 2003, Best Serialized Story in 2005 and 2006, and Best Artist/Penciler/Inker in 2007.
Letizia Cadonici is an Italian comic book artist born in Rome, in 1991. She has worked for several Italian comic book publishers mostly in the gothic or horror genre.
Todd Dezago is a writer best known for his work in comics. He has written for Marvel, DC Comics, Image, Dark Horse, Scout Comics, and others. His credits include scripting the adventures of Spider-Man, X-Factor, the X-Men, the Avengers, Marvel Super Hero Squad, the Justice League, Flash, Impulse, Batman, and Young Justice. Todd co-created the high-adventure fantasy title, Tellos, with Mike Wieringo and The Perhapanauts with Craig Rousseau.
John J. Pearson is an Eisner Award-winning artist and illustrator based in Leeds, UK.
John has built a reputation as an inimitable talent through his varied portfolio, producing work for clients as diverse as DC Comics, Image Comics, Vault Comics, Z2 Comics, Heavy Metal Magazine, Netflix, WWE, Rue Morgue Magazine, The Ray Harryhausen Foundation, Burning Witches Records, and Arrow Video amongst many others. He is also an award-winning comic book artist, receiving the 2021 Eisner Award for Best Painter / Multimedia Artist (Interior Art) alongside collaborator Anand RK, for the work done on Blue in Green (Image Comics).
John fuses traditional drawing techniques, digital painting, and collage to produce highly-detailed and darkly compelling images across a range of printed media. Combining elements of photorealism, popular culture, abstraction, and psychedelia, he creates a unique style and versatility in approach that appeals to a wide spectrum of audiences.
John has exhibited in the UK and USA, organized extensive art experiences across the country, and produced live murals at high profile events both independently and as part of Leeds-based art collectives. He is currently working on the BOOM! Studios series, In Bloom.
Stuart Sayger is known for his dark and moody art style. His recent published projects will include: Batman, GI Joe, Conan the Barbarian, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Past projects include: TMNT: The Last Ronin-Lost Years, The Joker, Red Sonja, Vampirella, Dejah Thoris, Transformers, Army of Darkness, and KISS (the Gene Simmons rock band). Kelly Yates is an illustrator best known for his work on Doctor Who comics for both Titan and IDW Publishing. His artwork inspired the Doctor Who, My Hero Academia, Junji Ito, and Attack on Titan Kawaii TITANS toy lines. In addition, he writes and illustrates the creator-owned books, Amber Atoms and MonstHer.
