Review: Heroes: Godsend #5

HeroesComic_Godsend5_Cover_AFarah prepares for a deadly confrontation with the super-strong Mr Vance in the shocking conclusion to ‘Godsend’. And what part will Angela Petrelli, HRG and the mysterious Philomena Haas play?

While Heroes: Godsend #5 is well done, the end leaves you with some questions. Despite the fact that Farah manages to save her neighborhood from destruction, she still seems conflicted some about life. It’s almost as if they are leaving it there to make another Heroes prelude comic that ties into Farah’s life.

I will admit the one out of place transformation will likely shock readers. That’s especially given both characters have been in almost every issue, but didn’t seem that connected.

The ending between Farah, and the large suited man is fluid and well done. The comic as a whole presents a nice mix of dialogue and action.

Review: Heroes: Godsend #3

01 HeroesGodsend3_CoverAFarah has a mission: to break someone out from a maximum security prison – and that someone is a familiar face to Heroes fans… Plus, we continue to learn Farah’s origins as she is put through more training challenges – this time, she has to face a whole host of poisonous spiders…

Between the flashbacks, the prison breakout, and a restaurant fire there is a great amount of action crammed into the 29 pages of Heroes: Godsend #3. Extending the grit, and realism of Heroes Reborn, the story follows Farah and Mr Linderman. While Mr Linderman only appears briefly, there seems to be a small connection with a mysterious Mr. Vance.

Artist Roy Allan Martinez adds a sense of realism to Mr Linerman, by managing to capture the look of Malcom McDowell who played the character in Heroes. The flashback of how Farah got her Godsend scar is intriguing, and reveals some of why her character is so strong. Even though it may scare some readers who have arachnophobia, so be warned. The blend of Farah’s state of invisibility, and solid form is a well executed piece of art within itself.

Review: Heroes: Godsend #2

HeroesComic_Godsend2_Cover_AFarah’s work at Primatech brings her into a clash with HRG and the Haitian. Plus she has to undergo a secret mission into a prison to break-out an old face from the Heroes TV show! Plus, just what is Angela Petrelli up to…?

An ordinary internship, from a less then normal college student gets strange. One old face returns as Farah realizes the secret of her destiny, and the more covert arm of Primatech. Even if Farah has to break him out of prison to meet him.

Like the previous issue of Heroes: Godsend, the art work is superb, and a little darker in atmosphere this time around. Yet there is a sense of balance, as Farah returns to her normal life during the day. The few spread out action scenes are changing mix from urban fighting, to something more stealthy.

Review: Heroes: Godsend #1

Heroes_Godsend1_Cover_B - Photo CoverThis 5-part story arc focuses on Farah from Heroes Reborn, delving into her past as we find out how she became the woman she is today. The story begins while Farah is a student in New York City in 2001 and terrorists destroy the World Trade Center… Life for the world and Farah will never be the same again… And how will she cope with discovering her camouflage powers?

This literally starts out with a bang, as a defining moment in American history happens. Of course this is more of a backstory themed issue, as we find out more about Farah’s backstory. While the power may seem like a blessing, she is gains attention of Primatech Paper? With that attention they manage to bring in Noah Bennett, and Angela Pertalli, two key characters from both the original Heroes and Heroes Reborn.

Like the previous mini-series Heroes: Vengeance the art work is greatly realistic. While the story follows someone a little more ordinary who happens to have a tragic, but trans-formative event happen. The artist clearly understands, and showcases Farah’s change from ordinary to extraordinary. Even the flashbacks to before the tragic event, seem to have a sense of weight in both art and story. Can’t wait for more.
