The chase for the powerful Infinity Stones is on! Beginning next month, Infinite Destinies will trace the current whereabouts of these legendary artifacts, some of which have fallen into the hands of Marvel’s newest breakout characters. This highly anticipated Marvel event will play out over the course of eight thrilling annuals, and their startling repercussions will be explored in “Infinity Score“, the upcoming arc in Jed MacKay’s hit run on Black Cat!

Marvel’s biggest heroes know all too well the destruction that the Infinity Stones can herald and are determined to stop this unbelievable cosmic power from falling into the wrong hands once again. Each part of this saga will see an iconic character clash or team up with a rising star as the very future of the Marvel Universe hang in the balance! Which of these powerful new characters is an Infinity Stone Bearer…and which isn’t? Find out by snatching up these annuals this summer! Each annual will also include one chapter of “Infinite Fury” detailing Nick Fury’s chase for these stone-bearers and finding so much more than he bargained for.

In Miles Morales: Spider-Man Annual #1, written by Saladin Ahmed and Jed MacKay with art by Luca Maresca and Juan Ferreyra, and cover by Kim Jacinto Miles will team up with the Magnificent Ms. Marvel series’ breakout hero: AMULET! Together, they’ll investigate a series of monster attacks in Brooklyn and discover a series of cursed magical objects. But who activated them, and why? And can Spider-Man and Amulet find out before the monsters take them down too? Also featuring “Infinite Fury” Part 7 by Jed MacKay and Juan Ferreyra!

Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1 by Al Ewing and Jed MacKay with art by Flaviano and Juan Ferreyra, and cover by Mike McKone will finally see Hercules go head to head with his newest rival! A New Cosmic Threat Rises in The Last Annihilation

Review: Guardians of the Galaxy #13

When the Guardians of the Galaxy relaunched under Al Ewing‘s guidance I was excited to check the series out. I followed it through its first arc and enjoyed where it was going. But I fell off and found myself reading an issue here and there that tied into something else. With Guardians of the Galaxy #13, the issue feels like another good jumping on point. It’s perfect for new readers as well as long-time fans.

My experience with the Guardians of the Galaxy goes back to the team from the future but I fell in love with the team during the Abnett and Lanning days. Since then there’s been ups and down (a lot of downs, lets be honest) but Ewing’s run has been solid (of what I’ve read of it). With The Kree and Skrulls now in an alliance, The Guardians of the Galaxy have a new role, that of superheroes. They’ve been soldiers, misfits, and thieves, but now they’re getting a more formalized take… Avengers in space. And that’s not a bad thing. With a large cast of heroes, the teams can now tackle multiple issues and try to help the infinite issues out there.

Guardians of the Galaxy #13 kicks off with two, an attack on the Kree/Skrull capital planet and the mystery of a cult on a mysterious planet. Each provides different aspects to the issue. With one we get the big-screen adventure and action. The other builds a mystery that will clearly play out down the line. We also get to know each team and members and how the various personalities play out. There’s also a bit of uniformity now too hearkening back to those classic days of matching uniforms (with a bit of a throwback to them).

The art by Juan Frigeri is fantastic. Frigeri is joined by Federico Blee on color and Cory Petit on lettering. There’s some amazing visuals that make you take notice. From the opening of Throneworld II to Super Skrull managing the teams, to the Guardians arriving to battle, and more, there’s so much to enjoy. There’s a fun energy about the art. The colors help and the lettering adds personality to so many of the characters. All of that combines into a visual treat that makes the comic fun!

Guardians of the Galaxy #13 is a near-perfect jumping-on point. There’s just one sequence between Peter and Gamora that feels really out of place. But, beyond that, the comic is a fun adventure. There’s a certain energy and excitement about the issue that jumps from the page. If you’ve wondered about the Guardians of the Galaxy, this is the point to hop and because it looks like it’s going to be an awesome ride.

Home #1 (Image Comics) – A story about immigration and asylum mixed with superhero abilities. The series explores the real-world implications of migration.

Jenny Zero #1 (Dark Horse) – The military’s top kaiju killer, “Jenny Zero” now lives the celebutante life. When the massive creatures return, Jenny must decide if she can sober up and save the world!

The Joker #2 (DC Comics) – The first issue was fantastic with its focus on Jim Gordon and his being recruited to hunt the Joker. Now, Gordon must decide what he wants to do and how to do it. There’s also a hell of a reveal in it that will have an impact of Batman stories of the past!

Jules Verne’s Lighthouse #1 (Image Comics) – Based on the story by Jules Verne, he who controls the Lighthouse controls part of the galaxy.

Locke & Key/Sandman: Hell & Gone #1 (IDW Publishing) – The two properties come together for what is sure to be an entertaining tale.

Maniac of New York #3 (AfterShock) – The first two issues were fantastic. The series asks what if Jason was real in New York City?

MPLS Sound (Humanoids) – MPLS Sound is the ultimate love letter to the legendary Minneapolis funk-rock sound of the 1980s.

Non-Stop Spider-Man #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was full of action and excitement and we’re excited to see if it can keep it up.

Phantom on the Scan #1 (AfterShock) – A comment gives Matthew incredible psychic powers but those who gained similar powers are all dying in horrible ways.

Proctor Valley Road #2 (BOOM! Studios) – The first issue was full of mystery and has us returning to see what happens when the group of girls is blamed for the disappearance of their friends.

Scout’s Honor #4 (AfterShock) – A great series that’s been building its world while telling an engaging and exciting story. No idea where it’s all going but we want to find out!

Spider-Man: Spider’s Shadow #1 (Marvel) – What if Peter Parker became Venom? By Chip Zdarsky, Pasqual Ferry, and Matt Hollingsworth? Yeah, we’re in.

The Tankies (Dead Reckoning) – Garth Ennis’ latest collection of war comics!

Undone By Blood or the Other Side of Eden #2 (AfterShock) – It’s a crime comic set during the Depression. Yeah, we’re in for this one.

White Lily #2 (Red 5 Comics) – Based on the real Russian pilot during World War II. She was one of the best of the time!
