Dynamite has announced that the one and only Grumpy Cat, “The World’s Grumpiest Cat”, will be a making a special appearance at this year’s New York Comic Con. Catch Grumpy on Thursday, October 8th, from 1:30pm to 3:00pm at Dynamite Booth #2129. This will be Grumpy Cat’s first-ever appearance at a comic book convention. Photo ops will be available on-site; details on arrangements will be outlined at the booth.
The appearance is timed to help commemorate the release of Grumpy’s first-ever comic book, The Misadventures of Grumpy Cat and Pokey #1, which will be hitting comics retailers worldwide, as well as leading digital distributors, on Wednesday, October 7th. Issue #1 features Grumpy and her brother, Pokey, in the first of her all-new misadventures in a three-issue miniseries shipping monthly October through December.
Dynamite has also announced plans for a follow-up to the hit three-issue miniseries. The new Grumpy Cat comic book series will launch in February 2016. Look for details in Diamond Comics’ December 2015 Previews catalog, advertising products slated for February 2016 release.
Dynamite Entertainment has announced the complete creative team for the upcoming first issue of Grumpy Cat, scheduled for release in October. The series writers include Ben Fisher, Ben McCool, Royal McGraw, and Elliott R. Serrano. The interior artists will be Ken Haeser and Steve Uy, who also contribute cover artwork alongside Rebekie Bennington, Agnes Garbowska, and Tavis Maiden. Dynamite will also offer two special cover variants: a Blank Authentix edition, perfect for fans with artistic talent to personalize; and the first-ever “Create-Your-Own-Meme” edition that provide Grumpy Cat lovers an outlet for their own curmudgeonly witticisms.
Grumpy Cat #1 will ship in October 2015.
Dynamite, proving they’ll license just about anything, has announced a partnership with Grumpy Cat Limited to develop print and digital comic books and graphic novels featuring “The World’s Grumpiest Cat” and her brother, Pokey. Grumpy Cat will debut the first of her all-new misadventures in a three-issue miniseries, released in Fall 2015, and collected into a hardcover graphic novel in time for the holiday season. Dynamite also plans to launch a website this summer where new Grumpy Cat comic strips will go up online every week.
Grumpy Cat’s global following includes 7.6 million Facebook fans and over 31 million YouTube views. Since her photos first went viral in 2012, Grumpy Cat has gone from Internet star to real-life celebrity. She has two New York Time Best Selling Books, her own Lifetime movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever (voiced by actress Aubrey Plaza), has made numerous appearances including the MTV Movie Awards, American Idol, The Bachelorette, The Today Show, SXSW, Good Morning America, and even hosted WWE Monday Night Raw. Grumpy Cat is Friskies official “Spokescat”, has filmed videos with Disney and Sesame Street, and appears in commercials for McDonald’s and Honey Nut Cheerios. Licensed Grumpy Cat merchandise is currently available at retailers worldwide.

This month’s Nerd Block will feature a Grumpy Cat item. They geek box admits it doesn’t really fit January’s theme of “A Galaxy Far Far Away”; and they tried to get the cat out of the block, but she refused! The box will also include an item of “Star Trek Meets Planet of the Apes” (we’re thinking IDW and BOOM!’s new comic series), as well as an item from Star Wars and Doctor Who.
