SDCC 2019: TNT and TBS Brings Snowpiercer Bug Bars to Comic-Con!

Snowpiercer EXO bars

In anticipation of TBS’s upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer, the network is partnering with EXO for the first and only time to distribute “Bug Bars” at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 via vending machines. Created by EXO, which is owned by Aspire Food Group, these one-of-a-kind protein bars are made out of cricket protein powder. Fans just enter their email address into the vending machines to receive a bar in addition to a special piece of Snowpiercer content.

WHEN: Thursday, July 18, to Sunday, July 21
WHERE: TBS’s Snowpiercer Booth 4215 in the Comic-Con® Exhibit Hall

In the series, the Snowpiercer train carries the remnants of humanity around the world after the earth has become a frozen wasteland. While the front of the train enjoys the luxuries of first class, the Tailies huddled in the back of the train survive on daily rations of bars, which are made out of bugs. These bars at Comic-Con® offer a taste of the story, but with a flavor one would expect from the front of the train.

Snowpiercer will also have a panel on Saturday, July 20 featuring stars Jennifer ConnellyDaveed DiggsAlison WrightMickey SumnerLena HallSteven Ogg, and executive producer and showrunner Graeme Manson from 3:00 p.m. – 3:50 p.m. in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

*Allergy Warning: please note cricket products may trigger crustacean and shellfish allergies and contain peanuts, almonds and coconuts.

In the announce, Mohammed AshourCo-Founder and CEO, Aspire Food Group said:

It’s a thrill for me, as co-founder and CEO of a company dedicated to normalizing the consumption of insects in the western world, to have this chance for so many to taste a part of the Snowpiercer story I’m such a fan of while hopefully joining the two billion people who already consider insects a normal cuisine. Our Snowpiercer cricket bars have a solid texture and ingredients like peanuts and strawberries so the taste is more familiar while you’re trying something new. I wouldn’t typically consider a custom product partnership, but the alignment of Snowpiercer with Aspire’s own path of radical technology solutions to the real-world challenges of food insecurity and climate change made for a perfect partnership.
