Fear Agent Gets a Final Edition

Image Comics will bring Fear Agent—the critically-acclaimed, science-fiction odyssey by Rick Remender, Tony Moore, and Jerome Opeña—back to print as a series of master edition trade paperbacks. Each trade paperback will collect ten issues of the seminal, pulp classic and will feature never-before-seen scripts, variant covers, designs, and concept art.

Beginning with Fear Agent: Final Edition, Vol. 1, which hits stores this April, veteran fans and new recruits alike can experience the whiskey-soaked, laser-scorched life of Heath Huston, the galaxy’s last hope.

Fear Agent first made waves when Remender famously described it as their response to a sci-fi genre that’d “lost its stones.” Heralded as an addictive homage to the popular sci-fi adventure of the ’50s, Fear Agent was the series that catapulted Remender’s reputation for action-packed sci-fi with heartstring-tugging character building. It laid the groundwork for such hits as, Black Science co-created with artist Matteo Scalera, Low co-created with artist Greg Tocchini, and his re-teaming and co-creation with Opeña on Seven to Eternity.

The Fear Agent adventure unfolds when down-and-out alien exterminator Heath Huston stumbles upon an extraterrestrial plot to commit genocide against the human species, he must put down the bottle and resume his role as a peacekeeper…the last Fear Agent.

Fear Agent: Final Edition, Vol. 1 (ISBN: 978-1-5343-0797-1, Diamond Code FEB180517) hits stores on Wednesday, April 25th. The final order cutoff for comics retailers in Monday, March 12th. It hits bookstores on Tuesday, May 1st and will be available for pre-order at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, IndieBound, Books-a-Million, and Indigo.

The Goon and Fear Agent Come to RPGs

Pinnacle Entertainment Group has launched two Kickstarters running simultaneously for the pulp scifi setting Fear Agent and “zombie Noir” The Goon comics. Both were funded in less than 90 minutes and have already passed numerous stretch goals!

The Goon RPG for Savage Worlds

Multiple Eisner-award winning comic The Goon pulls no punches when Goon starts swingin’—usually at the chug-heads, changelings, and snake-riddled rival gangs what get in his way. Now your strangers, weirdos, and ne’er do wells can join his crew, make Lonely Street a bit less zombified, and even save the Town in the dramatic Plot Point Campaign “From Hell’s Heart We Bite at Thee!”

The Goon was created by Eric Powell and published by Dark Horse Comics.

Fear Agent RPG for Savage Worlds

The Earth is decimated in an alien invasion—then the “backwards” survivors are invited to join the United Systems as a sort of half-hearted apology. Just like the star of the comics, the “Last Fear Agent” Heath Huston, your heroes are stuck cleaning up the mess in a planet-hopping, time-traveling, conundrum-unravelling journey against the strangest and weirdest aliens the Deep has to offer. And all with a few twists worthy of this phenomenal series!

Fear Agent was created by Rick Remender, Tony Moore, and Jerome Opeña, and published by Dark Horse Comics.

The Goon RPG and the Fear Agent RPG for Savage Worlds Kickstarters each offer a core book, GM Screen with adventure, Bennies, dice, and amazing miniatures sculpted by Bronze Age Miniatures. A copy of the Savage Worlds core rules is required to play ($10 at www.peginc.com).

If you are new to Savage Worlds, Pinnacle announced an Un-Stretch Goal: PDFs for Deadlands, Rippers Resurrected, The Last Parsec, and East Texas University. Digital or higher level backers on either Goon RPG or Fear Agent RPG Kickstarter get these PDFs for FREE after the Kickstarter. That’s a terrific way to get a feel for the variety of genres Savage Worlds can handle.

Gen Con 2015: Pinnacle Announces Fear Agent, Goon, and Flash Gordon RPGs

Pinnacle Entertainment Group Gen ConAt Gen Con 2015, Pinnacle Entertainment Group, the makers of Savage Worlds, Deadlands, and many other games, previewed its upcoming releases for 2015 and beyond.

Pinnacle previewed previously announced properties such as Deadlands Lost Colony, Necessary Evil 2, and Weird War I, as well as several new surprise licenses.

The first announcement was for Fear Agent, a comic series by Rick Remender, Tony Moore, and Jerome Opeña. Fear Agent was published by Dark Horse Comics, and tells the tale of Heath Huston, a cynical Texan who ventures into space to battle the aliens who destroyed the Earth. Fear Agent is a high-action, thrill-filled race through space and time.

Pinnacle’s second announcement was for another Dark Horse Comic series, Eric Powell’s The Goon. This long-running, award-winning, tongue in cheek pulp crime series is laced with horror and humor.

Pinnacle’s most unexpected announcement was for the Flash Gordon roleplaying game. The design team played the iconic music by Queen and then displayed the well-known Flash Gordon logo to massive fanfare from the assembled crowd. No other information was released about the project, but Pinnacle handed out buttons to the attendees and afterward sold retro-style Flash Gordon t-shirts at their booth.

Fear Agent Library Volume 1 Sells Out!

Dark Horse Comics gives one of its most beloved creator-owned series in its vast archives a long-overdue deluxe treatment! Demand has proven to be much higher than Dark Horse could have anticipated, with the first printing selling out before hitting the shelves of comic shops today.

Rick Remender, Tony Moore, and Jerome Opeña’s Fear Agent was a critics’ darling long before the X-Men joined the Avengers. Published first by Image Comics, Fear Agent came to Dark Horse in 2007 and stayed through the series’ end in late 2011. It follows the adventures of Heath Huston, a first-class drunk, an interplanetary alien exterminator, and the last of the Fear Agents, the band of Texans who once defended Earth from an onslaught of aliens seeking its annihilation. After our “hero” has been stripped of all that he loved—his home, his family, and his world—Huston spends his hours putting himself in constant danger for low wages and little thanks, with a bottle of whiskey to keep him company.

This epic tale is told in three major parts: Heath’s origin as a young father fighting an alien invasion, his time as a middle-aged, broken-down alcoholic alien exterminator, and his old age, as the last man alive who can stave off robotic conquerors.

This deluxe hardcover library, the first of two, collects issues #1–#15 of the acclaimed Fear Agent comics, along with half of the Tales of the Fear Agent side stories, covers, pinups, and artists’ sketch galleries.

To celebrate this landmark release, Dark Horse will make the first two collections available digitally for the first time, with the first issue available for free download! Visit Digital.DarkHorse.com for more details.

Make your way to your local comic shop today, or order now from Amazon or Barnes & Noble, as quantities are extremely limited!

Dark Horse is going back to print immediately, with a new volume shipping from Diamond on March 27, 2013, and arriving at retail on April 3.
