Gen Con 2024: Get a First Glimpse of What FanRoll has in Store for D&D Fans

Two years ago, the new owners of FanRoll had a vision to transform the company, formerly known as
Metallic Dice Games, into the pop culture hub of the tabletop space. In a short time, the company has rebranded, introduced dozens of new innovative gaming accessories to the market, and signed licensed agreements with major brands, such as Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). From August 1-4, FanRoll will unveil its new line of D&D 50th anniversary collector products at Gen Con, held at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

In the 1970s, Dr. Eric Holmes released the first set of Dungeons & Dragons dice, igniting the imagination of a generation and setting the standard for tabletop gaming. In honor of the 50th anniversary of D&D, FanRoll is introducing three “love letters” in the form of dice, inspired by the original Holmes set. These special edition dice sets are designed to capture the nostalgic essence of the early days of tabletop gaming while incorporating modern design and quality. Each set features intricate details and a timeless aesthetic that pays homage to the game’s rich history and its impact on popular culture.

The Retro Holmes Replica Set will be available for those who want to recapture the magic of the original set from the 1970s—FanRoll has meticulously reproduced it to be as close as possible to the original. This set includes a crayon for coloring in the unpainted numbers, just like the classic version, and comes in a case featuring artwork from the original game.

FanRoll is also introducing a Modern Holmes Inspired Set, which reimagines the classic design with contemporary materials and aesthetics. For distinguished collectors, a limited-edition Then-and-Now Combo Set combines the Retro and Modern sets in a premium collector’s box, highlighting the evolution of D&D dice over the past 50 years and upgrades the modern set with hand polished sharp edge dice.

FanRoll will be at booth numbers 643, 1543, and 2600 at Gen Con, August 1 – 4 at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

Gen Con 2024: Get a first glimpse at Collector’s Dice from FanRoll CATAN

FanRoll debuts its highly anticipated CATAN collector’s dice and stone robbers at Gen Con 2024. The oversized D6s have CATAN resources inside the die and a high-end hex-shaped case. FanRoll is also introducing a line of stone robbers sold with red and yellow metallic dice that feature CATAN hexes on the pips.

The line includes an Inclusion Dice Set featuring the resources of CATAN captured in stunning detail in an oversized die. The line will also have Robbers & Metal Dice, containing four Gemstone robbers.

FanRoll will be at booth numbers 643, 1543, and 2600 at Gen Con, August 1 – 4 at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

Metallic Dice Games is now Fanroll

Metallic Dice Games (MDG), founded in 2014 and recently sold to toy industry veteran Neal Hoffman has “rolled” into the new year with a new name. The company announced its decision to rebrand the company as FanRoll and has launched its new website, FanRollDice.com.

Shark Tank Alum, Neal Hoffman led a group of investors to purchase Metallic Dice Games, a leading tabletop dice company, this past summer. While the company started with a focus on metal dice, it now has over 300 SKUS ranging from liquid core dice to tabletop accessories. The rebrand is to better reflect where the company is and is going in the future.

MDG made a massive impact on the dice industry when they launched Elixir DiceTM, liquid-filled dice with a snowglobe-like effect. With combined Kickstarters reaching over $1.2MM, the company is eager to launch this innovation and bring it to the mass market.

Adam Hackett, MDG’s founder, and Fanroll’s new Chief Product Officer has made numerous product introductions into the retail market. FanRoll will introduce individual D20s of their popular liquid core Elixir Dice this spring. The company has also developed a new line of blind packs, branded Misfit Dice using the tagline “Adopt a Misfit”, which includes unique packs of mini, resin, and metal dice. Hackett expects to launch new items every other month throughout 2023.

FanRoll Dice was busy this past fall and had recently announced partnerships with numerous podcasts including NADDPOD, Homebrew, and Glass Cannon Network. The company is actively seeking out new marketing partnerships.
