Animorphs Vol. 6 The Capture puts Jake into the spotlight as he’s taken over by Yeerks!

It was bad enough when Jake found out his older brother was one of them. It was even worse when Tobias stayed in his morph too long. But nothing compares to the horror the Animorphs are about to face — nothing.

The Animorphs have discovered the location of the Yeerks’s new base. They’ve even figured out how to get in — and they have a plan to hit those alien slugs where it hurts.

But they were never prepared for Jake to fall into a Yeerk pool. For Jake to become a human controller. The enemy.

It’s a race against the clock as the Animorphs face their biggest challenge yet: Save Jake before the Yeerk can expose them all …

Animorphs Vol. 4 The Message focuses on Cassie and the harm that can happen to the kids

It begins with the dreams. Cassie has been having strange nightmares of a voice calling to her from deep beneath the ocean.

They’re unsettling, but it isn’t until Cassie discovers Tobias has been having dreams too―the exact same dreams, of a voice pleading for help―that she decides it’s time to start listening.

When pieces of debris wash up on shore, marked with alien writing, the team realizes they may still have allies in the fight for Earth―allies who are trying to make contact. Now they just have to reach them, before time runs out.

Animorphs Vol. 3 The Encounter is interesting in its focus on mostly Tobias and his being trapped

When Tobias and his friends were given the power to morph, they were also given an important warning: Never stay in a morph for more than two hours. But Tobias broke the time limit, and now he’s trapped in the body of a hawk — forever.

When he discovers an important Yeerk secret, Tobias knows he has to do everything in his power to destroy it. But to do so, he’ll have to contend with a part of himself that’s wrestling for dominion. A part that isn’t human.

For Tobias, the fight against the Yeerks is more pressing than ever — not just for humankind, but for his own humanity.

Animorphs Vol. 2 The Visitor is a solid second chapter but doesn’t really stand on its own

Rachel is still reeling from the news that Earth is secretly under attack by parasitic aliens, the Yeerks. Now she and her friends are the planet’s only defense — five kids who, purely by chance, stumbled onto a downed spacecraft and were given the power to morph into any animals they touch.

The team’s best lead is their assistant principal, Mr. Chapman, who is the human host to a high-ranking Yeerk official. It’s not much, but Rachel’s always been a daredevil, and she volunteers to infiltrate Chapman’s home.

Rachel is tough. She’s fearless. But what she finds inside may be more than even she can handle.

Animorphs Vol. 1 The Invasion is a pretty solid introduction to the world and characters

Sometimes weird things happen to people. Ask Jake. He could tell you about the night he and his friends saw a strange light in the sky that seemed to be heading right for them. That was the night five normal kids learned that humanity is under a silent attack — and were given the power to fight back. Now Jake, Rachel, Cassie, Tobias, and Marco can transform into some of the most dangerous creatures on Earth. And they must use that power to outsmart an evil greater than anything the world has ever seen. . . .

Animorphs Vol. 5 The Predator is interesting but doesn’t stand on its own

Marco never wanted to be an Animorph. He didn’t want the ability to change into any animal he touches. And he certainly didn’t want to be one of a handful of kids that are the planet’s only defense against a secret alien army.

His friends know why he feels the way he does. He’s worried about his dad — the only family Marco has left. If anything happens to him, his father will be alone.

But something big is about to change for Marco. Something that could finally give him a reason to fight.
