SDCC 2024: DSTLRY reveals Come Find Me: An Autumnal Offering, a Folk Horror One-Shot Curate by Becky Cloonan

DSTLRY revealed at San Diego Comic-Con Come Find Me: An Autumnal Offering, a new folk horror short story one-shot curated by Somna co-creator Becky Cloonan. The creator also contributes one of the book’s chilling entries.

Come Find Me unites six creators including E.M. Carroll, HamletMachine, Vanesa R. Del Rey, Céline Loup, and Molly Mendoza. Come Find Me will debut in late October, setting the stage for a season of bonfires and falling leaves.

Within Come Find Me, Cloonan unearths a corpse with two coins laid over its decaying eyes. When an opportunistic thief robs the cadaver of its last possessions, a sinister curse erupts, dooming all it touches. HamletMachine presents a chilling tale of a musical demon who makes Faustian pacts with unsuspecting victims, creating a minor-key symphony of human pain. Carroll, Mendoza, and Del Rey similarly reach deep into naturalistic romance and dread for one of the most chillingly beautiful descents into folk horror. 

Come Find Me also offers a first look into the world of Cloonan’s next DSTLRY series, making this volume a perfect collector’s item. Studios has revealed a first look at The Man Who Came Down the Attic Stairs, a new original graphic novel in stores September 18, 2019, inspired by the works of Shirley Jackson and Ira Levin, in which acclaimed comics creator Celine Loup weaves a tale of horror and suspense that captures the isolation of postpartum depression, while exploring the very real fears associated with new motherhood.

Emma is madly in love with her husband, has just moved into a beautiful new home, and is absolutely glowing in anticipation of her new life as a mother. But when the baby arrives, things quickly take a dark turn as Emma loses days and nights to the infant’s never ending screams and her husband turns into a stranger before her very eyes. Something is scaring her newborn daughter and causing Emma to see strange things in the shadows as fear takes over the once warm household. But is this terrifying presence real or just imagination? And why doesn’t her husband, who isn’t quite himself, seem to notice that anything is wrong?

Emma is excited to start a family in her new home, but after her child’s birth she finds her world turning upside-down. The infant cries like it’s scared of something, or someone, and Emma’s sleepless nights quickly drive a wedge between her and her husband, who seems uncharacteristically detached. When Emma begins to see strange things in the house, the line between reality and fantasy blurs and her grasp of what’s real and what’s not becomes even more clouded. Is something unnatural haunting the nursery? And what if it also affected her husband, who ventured up into the attic when they first arrived…
