Dark Horse is becoming “the” place for comic books based on video games. At C2E2, Dark Horse announced a new comic series based on Halo. Halo: Initiation, launches in August! This exciting new miniseries will be written by Halo 4 writer and comics veteran Brian Reed, with art by Marco Castiello!

Before she was a supersoldier defending humanity as part of the Spartan-IV program, Sarah Palmer was an ODST—Orbital Drop Shock Trooper—carrying out the most dangerous missions behind enemy lines! See how she became the first Spartan-IV commander in this must-read series for fans of Halo 4 and the Halo franchise!

This is a bit of a coup as we last saw the Halo comic tie-ins being published by Marvel. A nice pick-up from the indie publisher.

Marvel and 343 Industries are proud to announce Halo: Fall of Reach—Boot Camp #1, the graphic fiction event answering the question on the minds of gamers around the world—what’s the secret on the planet of Reach that led to the creation of the Master Chief? This September, fan-favorite creators Brian Reed and artist Felix Ruiz team up to adapt the New York Times best-selling novel, Halo: Fall of Reach, and bring the world of Halo to life like you’ve never seen it before!

Before he was Master Chief, he was John — a boy stolen from his parents and conscripted into the SPARTAN II program on the fortress world of Reach. But as the galaxy falls into dark times, one doctor must pay a terrible price to keep humanity from being destroyed.

“We’re excited to bring this gripping novel to life in graphic fiction form,” said Ruwan Jayatilleke, Marvel Senior Vice President, Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media. “The Halo universe has produced some of the most compelling science fiction action epics of the century and Fall of Reach is right up there. If you’ve never experienced Halo before, this is a great place to jump on board.”
