D’Orc #1

(W) Brett Bean (A) Brett Bean

Armed with nothing but a magical yet ambitiously violent shield, a lonely orphan stumbles headfirst into Sunderaine’s never-ending war between the Light and Dark. Elves vs. Orcs. Wizards vs. Common Sense. Dragons vs. Literally Everyone. And caught dead-center? D’ORC.

With a wholly inconvenient doomsday prophecy, the half dwarf, half orc — all D’ORC — is fated to end the world. Soon, every human, elf, goblin, dwarf, Snargletooth, Necroid, Ice Giant, Trauma Llama, and at least three other unpronounceable magical creatures, will know his name and want him dead. There will also be a chicken.

Join fan-favorite artist BRETT BEAN (I HATE FAIRYLAND, DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL THE CROCODILE), colorist JEAN-FRANÇOIS BEAULIEU (I HATE FAIRYLAND), and letterer NATE PIEKOS (MINOR THREATS) for a hilarious high-fantasy romp perfect for fans of CONAN, LORD OF THE RINGS, and of course, GERT’s deadpan humor.

Image reveals exclusive and incentive variants for The Lucky Devils

Image Comics is pleased to reveal a veritable legion of devilishly good-looking variant covers for the hot-hot-hot upcoming series launch, The Lucky Devils—by Eight Billion Genies creative team of #1 New York Times bestselling writer Charles Soule and critically-acclaimed artist Ryan Browne—hitting shelves in January from Image Comics.

In addition to the stunning Cover A art by Browne, there will be an exciting Frank Miller variant cover, a blank sketch cover, and limited quantities of foil-treated Miller covers and even variants featuring original artwork drawn on it by Browne. Also available at select comic shops will be limited quantities of The Lucky Devils #1 variant covers by such artists as: William Russell (Prideland Comics & Collectibles), Erik Elizarrez (Top Shelf), Huy Dinh (Spectral Comics), Skoot Starnes (TN Comic Collector), Scott & Simon McFarland (Geek Boutique), Camron T. Soule and Browne’s wildly popular Eight Billion Genies #1 launched in 2022 with orders clocking in at 100K copies total. The successful launch was followed shortly by news of a Hollywood adaptation which kicked off a feeding frenzy of reorder activity for subsequent issues released. Now, their The Lucky Devils launch similar in tone—a high-concept fantasy romp—is projected to hit big with their dedicated audience of fans hungry for more.

This nine-issue, fantasy/satire adventure is a tale of two ordinary, good-hearted, 20-something Chicagoans who begin working with the devils on their shoulders in an attempt to fix their broken lives. It works beyond their wildest dreams, and in time they become two of the most powerful people on earth. While they fully intend to use that influence to make the world a better place, we all know what they say about the road to Hell…

A dark, hilarious satire about the struggle to do good in a world that makes it so easy to be bad, The Lucky Devils is an examination of everything that makes humanity both grand and terrible from two of comics’ most unique storytellers.

For fans of their previous bestselling collaborations like Curse Words and Eight Billion Genies—or stories like Good Omens, Lucifer, or tales where ordinary people’s lives intersect with the supernatural—this new series is sure to delight readers looking for a fantastical new read.

I Hate Fairyland #16 has sold out and gets a new printing

The first issue in the much buzzed about “Happy Endgame” story arc of I Hate Fairyland has sold out completely at the distributor level. I Hate Fairyland #16 by Eisner Award winning Skottie Young and Brett Bean is being rushed back to print this week by Image Comics in order to keep up with escalating demand. The second printing of this issue will feature new cover art by Bean and hit shelves in December.

This story arc of the long running series has hooked new readers with surprise appearances of iconic characters—including a longtime foe, a certain individual from The Wizard of Oz fame, and more surprises yet to arrive.

In I Hate Fairyland #16, Gert saved Fairyland from a monster infestation and is being celebrated by one and all. Okay, well…maybe not all. Deep below the Inferno, in the bowels of Hell, an old rival is gathering an army of the dead to put an end to Gert. No one in Fairyland will be safe.

I Hate Fairyland #16, second printing by Bean (Lunar Code 0924IM918) will be available at comic book shops on Thursday, December 26.

All Out, Blood-Drenched Showdown Begins in I Hate Fairyland #16 this October

The bestselling, wildly popular I Hate Fairyland by Eisner Award winning Skottie Young and Brett Bean will kick-off an all-new, blood-drenched, Gert-tastic, story arc with issue #16. This highly-anticipated chapter will begin hitting shelves this October 2 from Image Comics.

The showdown begins when Gert’s biggest foe returns to Fairyland… and brings with them a legion of enemies ready for battle. Gert must sharpen her ax and prepare for the fight of her life and for the survival of Fairyland itself. But first, she needs to make a quick stop in Kansas to ask for a little help from someone that’s quite familiar with fighting against evil in far away fantasy lands. And she’s not the only one! You should go brush up on your classic fairytales and then jump in the action yourself!

Everyone’s favorite green-haired, ax-wielding, crazed maniac is back on her warpath this Fall. Deadpool meets Alice In Wonderland—In I Hate Fairyland, Gert is all grown up and has been living in the real world. Times are tough, and the only job she’s qualified for has her back in the place she hates the most…Fairyland.
