Dynamite has announced the next entry in Brandon Sanderson‘s sci-fi/fantasy graphic novel saga, White Sand Volume 3, to release in June.

New York Times #1 Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, writer Rik Hoskinand artist Fritz Casas close out this arc of the Cosmere tapestry with a bang. 

On the planet of Taldain, legendary Sand Masters harness magic-like abilities to manipulate sand in wondrous ways. Following hushed conspiracy and slaughter, one still stands – the hero Kenton! Through previous volumes Kenton has come across allies and foes, honed his abilities and unearthed hidden secrets among the action and political intrigue. Vault Comics Announces New Brandon Sanderson’s Graphic Novel, Dark One Which is Also Heading to Television

Vault Comics has announced Dark One, a new graphic novel series by Hugo Award-winning author, Brandon Sanderson. Dark One is a fantasy epic about the people caught in a conflict between two worlds: Earth and a dark-and-deadly fantasy realm. The graphic novel will be made concurrently with a TV series that is being produced by FremantleMedia North America and Random House Studio.

Planned as a two-volume graphic novel series, Brandon Sanderson’s Dark One will be co-written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly. The first volume will be released in the Spring of 2019.

Dark One will be a dramatic fantasy adventure spotlighting a young man who sees visions of strange and fantastical worlds, which he is told are just hallucinations. But this dark and deadly fantasy world that keeps coming to him is actually a real vision of another world – one where he has been prophesied to become a tyrant and destroy this land of interesting creatures, sporadic electrical currents and a darkening landscape.

Within White Sand, traditional fantasy comes to life, in this intriguing blend of action, suspense, and mystery. The misfit son of a high ranking Sand Masters, is the only one left alive after most of his kin are slain at what was meant to be a joyous celebration. Somehow afterward his power fails him, yet comes back much stronger for some reason. As he attempts to figure out why, along with why his kin were slaughtered, he finds himself forced to defend the remaining Sand Masters from being dissolved by the ruling body.

The art by Julius Gopez is a nice blend of contrast as the novel progress. Gopez manages to subtlety add in more color as Kenton travels with the people who found him alive. The cities seem to get increasingly detailed, as they grow larger.
