Ben Edlund and the Tick Support the WGA Strike

The WGA Strike is going strong and so many are coming out in support it and that includes comic creators. Ben Edlund, the creator of The Tick showed off his support in a post on Twitter featuring the blue superhero.

Edlund isn’t just the creator of the comic’s Tick, he also executive produced the various series based on the character and been in producer roles for shows such as Firefly, Angel, Supernatural, Gotham, Powers, and more. He’s also written for shows such as The Tick Powers, Supernatural, Firefly, and more.

Amazon’s The Tick Gets a Trailer. SPOON!

SPOON! Amazon has released the first trailer for their upcoming series The Tick based on the cult comic series by Ben Edlund. The character debuted in 1986 and was the subject of an animated series on Fox in 1994 and a live action show in 2001.

A pilot debuted August 2016 and has since been picked up for a full season. The series stats Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick and Griffin Newman as his trusty sidekick Arthur Everest.

Amazon’s The Tick’s First Season is Ready to Stream August 25. Spoon!

Amazon has announced that the first season of The Tick is coming to their service on August 25. The full season will be ready to stream through Prime Video service.

Based on the cult Ben Edlund comic series, the character debuted in 1986 and was the subject of an animated series on Fox in 1994 and a live action show in 2001.

Amazon brought the series back with actor Peter Serafinowicz stepping into the blue suit as part of their pilot season. The response was good enough to get a full season order. Since the pilot images have been released of an updated look to the character’s costume and it’s unknown if this will be explained or just is.

Amazon’s The Tick Gets a New Costume

The Twitter account for the Amazon update of The Tick has released a new image of the hero played by Peter Serafinowicz. The image shows off an updated suit, something that was panned when it was first revealed last year.

The first full season of The Tick will be released later this year.

The television show is based on the Bed Edlund comic character who debuted in 1986 and was the subject of an animated series on Fox in 1994 and a live action show in 2001.

The Tick to Return to Television

the tickRumors have been circulating since 2014, but Deadline is reporting in an exclusive that The Tick is indeed returning to television thanks to Netflix. The show will be returning after two previous stints on television 1994 for an animated series and 2001 for a live action version. It had previously been rumored to return with Amazon.

The series creator Ben Edlund is back as writer and executive producer and Barry Josephson will also be exec producer.

Griffin Newman will be playing Arthur, while Valorie Curry will be Arthur’s sister Dot. Patrick Warburton had previously played the Tick, and it has not been announced who will be taking on the role.

In this version, the Tick will be recovering from memory loss and will reteam with Arthur to fight evil. It’s unknown what other characters from the animated, live action, and comic series will appear.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour’ Art Exhibit Opens at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco

thrilling adventure hourThe Cartoon Art Museum, The WorkJuice Corporation, Quixotic Transmedia, and Archaia Entertainment are pleased to present artwork from the much-anticipated The Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel at the Cartoon Art Museum from June 29 – October 20, 2013. Featuring artwork from all 10 stories, the Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel explores brand-new material from series creators Ben Acker and Ben Blacker. The characters from the critically acclaimed multi-genre stage show and podcast are brought to life in various styles in the graphic novel and on the walls of the Cartoon Art Museum.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a live stage show in the style of old-time radio performed monthly at the Largo of the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles, California since 2005. Each episode of the show features original stories written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker. These stories are  performed by the WorkJuice Players, a supremely talented and quite friendly troupe of comedians and actors from stage and screen. This cast plays characters from an ever-evolving array of recurring worlds and genres including BUT NOT LIMITED TO space westerns, hobo fairy tales, and screwball romantic ghost stories. In 2011, The Thrilling Adventure Hour started podcasting recordings of their performances under Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist Industries umbrella to both success and acclaim.  In 2012, The Thrilling Adventure Hour and Quixotic Transmedia ran a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign that enabled The Thrilling Adventure Hour to expand into other media, including a The Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel that will be released nationwide in late August 2013.

The exhibit features digital reproductions from the The Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel anthology. The exhibit showcases work from artists Heidi Arnhold, Jordie Bellaire, Randy Bishop, Casey Crowe, Lar deSouza, Joanna Estep, Evan Larson, André May, Chris Moreno, Natalie Nourigat, Joel Priddy, Evan “Doc” Shaner, and Jeff Stokely. The exhibition will also feature exclusive artwork inspired by The Thrilling Adventure Hour  from renowned artists Jackson Publick, Ben Edlund, Dustin Weaver, and cover artwork by Tom Fowler. The exhibit was facilitated by  Joe LeFavi of Quixotic Transmedia, CAM’s Roy Zemlicka and Archaia, the publisher of the The Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel which, again, will be released in late August 2013.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour Reception will be held at the Cartoon Art Museum in August, 2013.
