SDCC 2026: Ben 10 Brings Comics Fans Behind the Scenes with Creator Files

Hit that Omnitrix and get ready for a special release this October from Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, with the Ben 10: Creator Files comic book bringing fans behind the scenes of the latest smash hit series!

Following the fabulous fifth issue’s release in September with the debut of Grey Matter and conclusion of Ben’s first encounter with Zombozo, the main series takes a pause ahead of the next arc kicking off in November. To tide fans over and offer something unique, the Man of Action team and series artist Robert Carey alongside expert editor Matt Idelson have teamed up on the ultimate behind the scenes tour on the series so far.

With the same format and pricing of a standard entry in the series, the Creator Files shows Ben 10‘s fans what it takes to create an issue. A feature breaks down the major stages of comics creation, from the writer’s script, to Carey‘s artwork, Ren Spiller‘s addition of colors, Taylor Esposito‘s lettering, and assembling it all together into the page readers receive.

Features originally presented in the rare and sought-after ashcan will now be shared with all fans, including a special interview with writer Joe Casey as well as a batch of character sketches showcasing Carey’s earliest work on the franchise in preparation for drawing the first issue.

Dynamite is opening the vault and including even more of Carey’s designs and sketches, many of which have never been shown publicly. Previewing upcoming storylines, this will be the exclusive debut of designs for the next classic villain!

The Creator Files will be rounded out with gallery style pinups of some of the stellar variant covers from the series, as well as even more in-continuity ephemera that will delight fans!

Fans can opt for either the Robert Carey or Duncan Rouleau covers for Ben 10: Creator Files, both of which show multiple stages of their artistic process on one of their already iconic covers from the series. Writer Joe Casey will also be signing a limited number of copies available for retailers and fans to order.

Following the initial announcement at New York Comic Con, Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have revealed further details for the hotly anticipated return of Ben 10 via comic books!

The franchise’s original creators, the fabulous foursome of Man of Action Entertainment (MOA) are all set to return to the character and mythos in this new comic book series that fans have been anxiously awaiting! Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, and Steven T. Seagle all come from an initial background in comics, before they joined together to form a powerhouse collective for comics, animation, television, film, and beyond.

This new era of Ben 10 comic books kicks off this May with an initial story arc led by Joe Casey and artist Robert Carey. The collective MOA team will drive the stories in the comic series, with individual partners taking turns scripting story arcs as the title progresses. Future tales from Kelly, Rouleau, and Seagle will be announced as they come around, offering fans new and old exciting visions of the franchise!

Casey’s first salvo sets the foundation for this new approach with a revamped origin story, a straightforward, action-oriented take on Ben Tennyson and his adventures. Updating the concept for a modern aesthetic and sensibility, both those who grew up with the series and newcomers will get the definitive new Ben 10 experience directly from the creators. A wider range of tones and themes will be explored, from drama, comedy, to tragedy, and even the surreal.

Ben Tennyson and his family are out camping, when a meteor crashes nearby. When the inquisitive boy investigates, he finds the mysterious Omnitrix among the wreckage. From that moment, a new superhero is born! This new telling of will allow Casey and team to expand the scale and scope of these pivotal, beloved moments. A range of “real world” impacts will be explored, with the military getting peripherally involved and a bona fide alien threat.

From there, the series will proceed in a manner similar to classic superhero comics, building the mythology slowly and surely, with approachable short story arcs. NYCC 2025: Ben 10’s New Comics Adventures Mark a Historic Reunion of His Original Creators!

Ben 10

Teased previously, Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have announced further details on the greatly anticipated new era of Ben 10 in comic book form! For the first time ever in this medium, the four creators of the franchise are stepping up to personally craft new ongoing adventures of their famous phenomenon, starting in February! The Man of Action Entertainment (MOA) crew all got their major career starts in the comics industry, before assembling to co-found one of the most legendary creative collectives in pop culture, focusing on animation, television, film, comics, and beyond. Both separately and jointly, creators Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, and Steven T. Seagle have been at the forefront of some of the biggest franchises across entertainment like Superman, Spider-Man, and their own original creations like Big Hero 6.

Now things come full circle, with MOA arriving to deliver the saga of Ben 10 in their original medium, with Joe Casey leading the way. This follows Casey’s critically acclaimed forays into other hall of fame animated franchises under Dynamite’s partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery in his Jonny Quest and Space Ghost titles. He’s joined for his first stories here by artist Robert Carey, who has drawn hit titles including Outsiders, James Bond, and Jennifer Blood. Man of Action will creatively drive the stories, with individual partners stepping forward to provide future scripts at different points during the series.

For this inventive new phase of Ben 10, Casey, Carey, and company are taking a more straightforward, action-oriented approach. The beloved animated series exists for fans who grew up with it and for future generations to continue discovering it. This comic series will update the concept for modern audiences, while of course being drawn with the boundless potential of the comics form, opening up a wider range of tones to tap into, from the emotional to the surreal, across drama, comedy, and tragedy.

It all starts in issue #1 with an updated origin, bringing fans both old and new up to speed on the incredible characters and mythos of Ben 10. As young Ben Tennyson first discovers the mysterious Omnitrix — and the transformative powers it contains — readers will be pulled in deeper to how such an event would truly impact the world around it.

From there, the Man of Action brain trust will recontextualize the greatest hits and coolest components of previous iterations, honing it down to its most perfect presentation. They will expand and add to the recipe, with a thoughtful approach to continuity in the vein of classic superhero comics, rewarding both grown up fans of the original shows, as well as younger readers who have never met Ben, his cousin Gwen, Grandpa Max, fearsome foes like Vilgax, all of the powerful aliens of the Omnitrix, and countless other fun parts of the world!

SDCC 2024: Dynamite reveals Ben 10, Captain Planet, Herculoids, Thundarr, and Dynomutt!

Dynamite Entertainment

Dynamite Entertainment has announced new series of franchises that will be coming to comics soon in 2024 and beyond through its partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP).

There are five major new titles to announce that are in the pipeline for new comics right now. These include Ben 10, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Thundarr the Barbarian, The Herculoids, and Dynomutt & Blue Falcon.

Dynamite is excited to announce the first creator attached to one of these properties, as beloved writer Tom Sniegoski takes on The Herculoids. Sniegoski is a veteran of comics for over three decades. His major breakout work was spearheading the Vampirella franchise in 1993. Since then he’s returned to the character multiple times, and worked on other big titles like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hellboy, Bone, Star Trek, Punisher, and more.

The Herculoids is a unique mix of science fiction and fantasy, featuring a “space barbarian” family of father Zandor, mother Tara, and son Dorno alongside their eponymous giant pet Herculoids. These include Zok, a giant dragon able to shoot lasers; the rhinoceros Tundro; an ape formed of rocks named Igoo; and last but not least the shape-shifting Gloop and Gleep. Together this ragtag team fights off robots, evil scientists, and a stream of other foes who threaten their planet and way of life. The classic Hanna-Barbera show spotlights the boundless creative vision and unique character designs of legendary animation and comics artist Alex Toth.

Thundarr the Barbarian and Dynomutt, Dog Wonder (featuring Blue Falcon) also come from the prestigious vaults of the Hanna-Barbera and Ruby Spears animation masterpieces, a bit later than Space Ghost and Herculoids, as these two shows originally ran in the late 1970s and early 80s.

Thundarr is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland vision of Earth, which has devolved into a barbarian state. The principal creator of the series was Steve Gerber, known for many comics contributions over the years.

Though often giving Blue Falcon first billing from fans, Dynomutt is actually more focused on the titular robotic canine companion and his bumbling attempts to help his superhero master with his haphazard abilities and tools afforded by his mechanical body.

One of the most exciting new announcements in this lot is the first entry of the Ben 10 franchise in comic books. This is a full circle moment for Ben, as the beloved character and world were created and developed by the Man of Action Entertainment collective. This group was founded by four comic book luminaries in Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, Steven T. Seagle, and Duncan Rouleau.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers left an indelible mark on the imaginations and worldviews of children who grew up with it originally in the 1990s and those who have gone back to it via reruns. The show took an inclusive and trailblazing approach to its cast and premise, as five children from diverse backgrounds come together with the ability to summon Captain Planet in addressing crises facing the Earth such as environmental pollution, and so much more.

More exciting information will be shared on these projects soon, including creative teams, details of their stories, formats, and release dates.
