Baltimore Comic-Con 2025 announces its International Guests

This year’s Baltimore Comic-Con takes place at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center on October 17-19, 2025. Baltimore Comic-Con has announced the appearance of international comics creators Alan Davis, Mike Krome, Joshua Middleton, Declan Shalvey, Zoe Thorogood, and Dan Watters. Tickets to the show can now be purchased online.

Born in June of 1956 in Corby, Northants, England, Alan Davis had no formal art education — unpleasant experiences with ‘art establishment’ reinforced his primary ambition to be a carpenter. Davis began contributing to comics as a part-time hobby that quickly became a full-time job. His first professional comic work was on Captain Britain in 1981 for Marvel UK. Marvelman for Warrior followed less than a year later. Harry Twenty on the High Rock for 2000AD allowed the hobby to become a full-time job. D.R. and Quinch followed. In 1985, Davis landed his first US work for DC Comics on Batman and the Outsiders, followed by Detective Comics. A few X-Annuals led to art duties on Excalibur. Then there was Wolverine: Bloodlust, a return to Excalibur as writer/artist, The ClanDestineJLA: The NailFantastic Four, various X-booksSuperboy’s LegionAvengers, KillravenJLA: Another NailFantastic Four: The End… Lots of covers, short runs and more ClanDestine. Runs on ThorCaptain AmericaWolverineSavage HulkGuardians of the Galaxy, and, most recently, three 100-page Thanos OGNs and writing an Avengers/Defenders mini-series, Tarot. Davis has been married to his wife Heather since 1977 with two children and four grandchildren.

Mike Krome is an Australian artist who has worked in a variety of media for games, magazines, children’s books, film, and comics. He currently works primarily as a cover artist, with work featured by the likes of Dynamite, Valiant, Coffin Comics, Zenescope Entertainment, Image, Aspen Comics, IDW and others. When not traveling for work, Mike lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife, 2 children, and cactus plants…all of which he has proudly kept alive.

Joshua Middleton began his career as a comic book artist in 1999, providing illustrations for every major publisher and eventually branching out into animation and film design. In 2005, he began his long-running relationship with DC Comics, illustrating Superman/Shazam: First Thunder before rising to prominence as a premier cover artist on a wide variety of DC titles, including his recent notable runs on Aquaman and Batgirl. His exceptional skill and uncommon range as an artist have earned him his place amongst the very best cover artists in the industry.

Declan Shalvey is an award-winning artist/writer of comics and graphics novels from Ireland. He is best known for his acclaimed run on Moon Knight with Warren Ellis for Marvel Comics (revamping the character for a new audience with a television series for Disney+) and the record-breaking Thundercats and Terminator revivals for Dynamite Comics.

Shalvey has worked on hit titles and characters such as AlienBatmanDeadpool vs. Old Man LoganImmortal Hulk, and the groundbreaking X-Men Unlimited with Jonathan Hickman. He has also developed a number of creator-owned projects such as Injection, Savage TownBog BodiesTime Before Time, and his recent solo project Old Dog from Image Comics.

Zoe Thorogood is a comic creator and concept artist from the UK. She debuted in 2020 with The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott, which was both written and drawn by Zoe and published by Avery Hill. Billie Scott received an unprecedentedly positive reception for a first-time cartoonist and quickly established Zoe as an industry mainstay. In the subsequent years, she illustrated Haha and Joe Hill’s Rain at Image Comics.

This led into another auteur production with the publisher, It’s Lonely at the Centre of the Earth, a groundbreaking autobiography released in late 2023. Lonely again garnered major critical and commercial success for Thorogood, earning her six Eisner Award nominations and winning her the Russ Manning Newcomer Award at San Diego Comic-Con. She also took home the Best Original Graphic Novel Ringo Award later in the year.

Most recently, Thorogood continued to collaborate with Image on Creepshow and Hack/Slash: Back to School. She has also written the Life is Strange: Forget-Me-Not miniseries at Titan Comics. In her (very limited) free-time, Zoe enjoys playing video games and being incredibly powerful.

Dan Watters is a writer from London, England. He released his first graphic novel, Limbo, through Image Comics in 2016, which led to his being picked to relaunch Lucifer for the Sandman Universe at Vertigo. He has since written critically acclaimed titles for publishers such as DC, Marvel, BOOM! Studios, and Dark Horse on titles such as Action ComicsDetective ComicsArkham City, and Sword of Azrael.

He is the co-creator of titles such as Coffin BoundThe Seasons Have Teeth, and Home Sick Pilots.

Currently, he is working on Batman: Dark Patterns and Nightwing at DC Comics, as well as Doctor WhoMagic: The Gathering, and Destro for Skybound’s Energon Universe. The Six Fingers at Image Comics recently earned him a 2025 Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album Reprint.
