Manga Mavericks Books Licenses Taiyo Matsumoto’s Brothers of Japan

Brothers of Japan

Manga Mavericks Books has announced the latest release is the anthology manga Brothers of Japan by Taiyo Matsumoto (published in Japan by Magazine House), which will be released in February 2027 in both print and digital formats. Brothers of Japan is an essential collection from manga maestro Taiyo Matsumoto, the acclaimed creator of Ping Pong and Tekkonkinkreet!

Created back when Taiyo Matsumoto was in his 20’s, this never-before-released collection contains 11 stories that embody the foundational cornerstones of Taiyo Matsumoto’s artistic universe.

The titular short story centers on two brothers who dig a hole in their dreams to reach the other side of the world.

Whether this is your first foray into Matsumoto’s body of work or you are a veteran manga lover, Brothers of Japan is crucial reading, demonstrating the simplicity and rawness of manga as a storytelling art form.

Brothers of Japan was originally published in Japan by Magazine House in 1995, and an updated edition of the manga was later published in 2010. The English release by Manga Mavericks Books will be based on the updated 2010 edition. Manga Mavericks Books will be releasing the manga as a paperback book at A5 (5.83″ x 8.27″) size.

Maverick Drops The Full Scoop Collection in July

This summer, Mad Cave Studios brings The Full Scoop Collection to its Maverick imprint, collecting all four volumes of Scoop in one definitive edition.

Written by award-winning writer Richard Ashley Hamilton, with art by Pablo Andrés, colors by Simon Robins and Rebecca Good, and letters by Dave Lanphear and Justin Birch, this 400+ page YA graphic novel follows Sophie’s search for the truth, grounded by artwork that keeps the series’ stranger turns in focus.

Sophie Cooper is the newest intern at the WMIA 7 news station–a struggling station based in Miami, Florida–and she’s determined to use access to the newsroom’s resources to prove her father has been framed for embezzlement. But investigating her father’s case soon uncovers some unsettling things about her hometown, like a flying saucer crashed in the Everglades, a chupacabra running wild, a digital doppelgänger intent on ruining what’s left of Sophie’s social life, and a bunker, hidden since the 1960s, that seems to be at odds with time itself… Sophie will have to rely on all her truth-seeking skills to solve these mysteries!

The Full Scoop Collection runs on the friction between investigative journalism and the unexplained, where every answer reveals something more unstable—and far more dangerous—to follow!

The complete series arrives in one expansive paperback edition (ISBN: 9781545827307 | $29.99) on July 28, 2026.

Let’s Play goes from Webcomic to the Tabletop with Everdate: Let’s Play – The Dating Game

Everdate: Let’s Play - The Dating Game

Rocketship Entertainment has announced Everdate: Let’s Play – The Dating Game. The game is set to launch on Kickstarter tomorrow, June 2nd, 2026. The cooperative card game is a fast-paced, relationship-driven tabletop experience based on Let’s Play, the Ringo-Award winning, Eisner-nominated webcomic with over 7 million followers. In Everdate: Let’s Play – The Dating Game, players compete for love, drama, and unforgettable moments. Choose from twelve diverse characters, each with their own unique affinity, custom deck, and special abilities that shape how they connect and respond under pressure.

Every game is a new date. After selecting a location that sets the scene and introduces unique situations and challenges, you and your partner must work together to match your cards with affinity symbols on the location cards before the countdown timers run out. Complete ten successful matches to make the date a success, but the twist is that communication and timing are everything.

You and your partner can build momentum by creating combos, earning ability tokens, and upgrading your cards, but as you continue to have more dates, your interest points grow and so does the difficulty, which means staying in sync becomes more challenging with every move.

With over 300 cards, multiple characters, dynamic date locations, and evolving abilities, no two playthroughs are ever the same.  So, the only question is… Can you and your partner keep the connection alive? The Everdate tabletop game follows the announcements of season 4 of webcomic phenomenon returning this summer exclusively on Tapas, the announcement of the feature film in development with Red Sage studios, and season 1 of the anime premiering on Crunchyroll.

Volumes 1 through 6 of the collected graphic novels have been published in 8 languages and are available worldwide from Rocketship Entertainment.
