Gates McFadden to write a Star Trek: Crusher comic series

Iconic Star Trek actress Gates McFadden is returning to the character of Beverly Crusher, but this time as the writer of the comic limited series Star Trek: Crusher with artist Megan Levens and colorist Charlie Kirchoff.

With the debut issue arriving in summer 2027, the fan-favorite actress is making her comic book writing debut to bridge the 20 year in-universe gap in Crusher’s story between the events of the film Star Trek Nemesis and the television series Star Trek: Picard. McFadden, who portrayed the beloved Starfleet Chief Medical Officer for over 150 episodes, four feature films, and two video games, is ecstatic about further exploring the depth behind Crusher and her journey in the Star Trek universe.

This surprise announcement comes as IDW Publishing continues to commemorate Star Trek during its massive milestone year, recently releasing the all-star Star Trek: 60th Anniversary Special and a new Star Trek #1, which set a new sales record for the franchise at IDW. The eagerly anticipated Star Trek: Zero Point #1, featuring commander Raffi Musiker, goes on sale October 14.
