The Punisher Gets a New Series, New Status-Quo, and New Skull Logo for 2022

It’s been a few years since the Punisher has had a series at Marvel. The character was generally listless post Secret Empire where the character for a while was picking up the pieces and killing members of Hydra attempting to redeem himself and then kind of fell of the radar. There have been questions and debates since as to where Marvel should take the character considering his being co-opted by the far right and his symbol becoming one of white supremacy and racism. Well, it looks like Marvel is dumping a lot of the characters past to move away from that entirely.

A new 13-issue, prestige format limited series is coming from writer Jason Aaron, artists Jesús Saiz and Paul Azaceta, and colorist Dave Stewart. Saiz will handle the present day parts of the comic while Azaceta handles flashbacks.

Frank Castle is taking over The Hand and is now “The King of Killers” serving The Beast. That means a new job and a new costume to go with it. The series will focus on unrevealed secrets about his past and leads to something bigger on the horizon.

The Punisher #1 is coming March 2022.
