The Weekend Box Office Repeats 1, 2, 3 as Encanto Takes First

The weekend box office looked a lot like the previous weekend’s as the top three films was a repeat. Encanto grossed an estimated $12.7 million to bring its domestic total to just under $58 million. Over the week, the film grossed $28.8 million internationally to bring that to $58.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $116.1 million.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife came in second place with an estimated $10.4 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $102.2 million after three weeks. Over the week the film grossed $14.9 million internationally to lift that to $42.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $145.1 million.

House of Gucci came in third place with an estimated $6.8 million. The film has grossed $33.6 million after two weeks. The film grossed about $20.7 million over the week at the international box office to bring that to $33.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $67.2 million.

Christmas with the Chosen: The Messengers debuted in fourth place with an estimated $4.1 million. The film has grossed $8.8 million domestically. No international numbers have been reported.

Rounding out the top five was Eternals which grossed an estimated $3.9 million to bring its domestic total to $156.5 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $10 million to bring that to $227.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $384.3 million.

In comic films…

Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned an estimated $1 million. The film has grossed $210.9 million domestically after ten weeks. Over the week the film has grossed $12.2 million at the international box office to bring its total to $272.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $483.2 million worldwide.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission didn’t chart and its domestic total has remained just under $9.8 million. Internationally, the film added about $200,000 over the week to bring that to just under $31.2 million and its worldwide gross just under $41 million.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ domestic gross remained around $224.5 million. The film also grossed about $300,000 at the international box office where it now stands out $207.4 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $431.9 million.

Black Widow looks like it has ended its domestic run. Domestically, the film has grossed a little under $183.7 million. The international total stands at $196 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $379.6 million.

Old looks like its run has completely ended. Domestically, the film has grossed $48.2 million. Internationally, the film stood at $41.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $90.1 million.

The Suicide Squad remained steady during the week. Domestically, the film has grossed $55.8 million. The film has also earned $111.6 million internationally. Worldwide, the film has grossed $167.4 million.

Initial numbers have 40 films earning $52,509,873 from 34,624 theaters. That’s a pretty big decrease from last weekend’s 46 films which earned $96,350,612 from 32,856 theaters. The average earning was $1,516.57 this past weekend, a decrease from the previous weekend’s $2,932.51.
