Encanto Busts Some Ghosts Taking the Weekend Box Office

Encanto took the top spot for the weekend box office in its debut week earning an estimated $27 million. The film has grossed $40.3 million so far domestically. The film also grossed $29.3 million at the international box office bringing its worldwide debut week to $69.6 million.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife dipped to second place with an estimated $24.5 million, a drop of just 44.3%. Not bad for a blockbuster. The film has grossed $87.8 million domestically after two weeks. Internationally, the film grossed $12 million over the week to bring that to $28 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $115.8 million after two weeks.

House of Gucci debuted in third place with an estimated $14.2 million. In its debut week, the film has grossed $21.8 million domestically surviving middling reviews. Internationally, the film earned $12.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $34.7 milllion in its debut week.

In fourth place was Eternals which earned an estimated $7.9 million to bring its domestic total to $150.6 million. Over the week, the film grossed $17.5 million to bring its international total to $217.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $368.4 million.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City debuted in fifth place with an estimated $5.3 million despite savage reviews. In the first week, the film has grossed $8.8 million domestically. Internationally, the film has debuted with $5.1 million for $13.9 million worldwide.

In comic films…

Venom: Let There Be Carnage slipped some more rounding out the top ten. It earned an estimated $1.6 million. The film has grossed $209.5 million domestically after eight weeks. Over the week the film has grossed $11.9 million at the international box office to bring its total to $260.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $469.6 million worldwide.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission didn’t chart and its domestic total has remained just under $9.8 million. Internationally, the film added about $500,000 over the week to bring that to just under $31 million and its worldwide gross to $40.7 million.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings grossed an estimated $14,000 to bring its domestic total to $224.6 million. The film also grossed about $300,000 at the international box office where it now stands out $207.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $431.7 million.

Black Widow looks like it has ended its domestic run. Domestically, the film has grossed a little under $183.7 million. The international total stands at $196 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $379.6 million.

Old looks like its run has completely ended. Domestically, the film has grossed $48.2 million. Internationally, the film stood at $41.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $90.1 million.

The Suicide Squad remained steady during the week. Domestically, the film has grossed $55.8 million. The film has also earned $111.6 million internationally. Worldwide, the film has grossed $167.4 million.

Initial numbers have 46 films earning $96,350,612 from 32,856 theaters. That’s a decent increase from last weekend’s 47 films which earned $83,118,450 from 30,225 theaters. The average earning was $2,932.51 this past weekend, an increase from the previous weekend’s $2,749.99.
