2020 Eisner Voting Gets a Redo

Eisner Awards

The voting for the 2020 Eisner Awards was suspended last week due to an “anomaly” that was discovered. It’s being reported that all the ballots cast are being thrown out and new voting will take place.

When the suspension was announced, Comic-Con said:

We were alerted to an anomaly with the site hosting the Eisner’s voting. We have closed voting and are investigating the situation. We will make an announcement as we have additional information. We’re sorry for the inconvenience to voters.

Rumors have swirled as to what exactly has happened and voting is not yet reopened. Previous voters will receive an alert when things begin again.

The issue seems to involve the platform on which the original votes took place:

“As a result of our investigation into the recently reported issues with the Eisner voting website, it appears this was not a malicious attempt but an error in the platform itself,” Glanzer told Newsarama. “While our examination of the records leads us to believe the problem is small and we have no direct evidence that any votes have been altered, out of an abundance of caution and care we have decided to re-run the vote with a current and secure voting platform.”
