Review: Star Wars #14
The fifth part of Vader Down! Chewbacca versus Black Krrsantan! What else do you need? Marvel’s first Star Wars event continues in Star Wars #14!
Written by Jason Aaron with art by Mike Deodato, this fifth chapter of this mega event is all action with little else, and that’s not a bad thing at all.
The issue is all various battles with Han and Chewie fighting Krrsantan, Leia vs Vader, Vaer vs *spoiler*, there’s a lot of that, not much else, and that’s ok. This event has been awesome from start to finish, and this is the second last chapter moving things forward at breakneck speed.
As I said, there’s a lot of fighting, not a lot of depth, but very cool moments, this is the trench run of the event series. And having read this series, it’s an awesome addition. Peppered throughout is the humor that helps makes Star Wars so fun.
The art by Deodato is solid as it has been for some time. His Luke, Darth, Han, Chewie, Leia, everyone look fantastic and there’s classic poses, along with great reactions from so many of the characters. There’s a fantastic use of “classic” poses we’d see in sci-fi pulp adventures, and the emotion on the faces is particularly good.
For those reading this event, this is a nice second to last chapter. For those not, you’ll have no idea what’s going on, and you should wait for the eventual trade. It’ll be well worth picking up the entire event.
