A kids movie featuring an alien and an African American girl led the box office, giving a win for inclusion! Home was top of the domestic box office earning a solid $54 million in its first weekend. Its debut was similar to other animated films this year.

Coming in second with an estimated $34.61 million was Get Hard, which undoes all of the positive steps forward Home represents. The film was savaged in reviews, and got blah scores from those seeing it. The film was also accused of playing on stereotypes and homophobia.

In comic movie news, Kingsman: The Secret Service was in fifth place, earning a little under $3.1 million. Domestically, the film has earned $119.4 million and globally it has earned $327.7 million.

Big Hero 6 continues to earn at the box office, bringing in $89,000. Domestically, the film has earned $222.1 million and globally the film has earned $651.7 million.

In about a month, the first major comic blockbuster will hit theaters, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
