It was announced yesterday that Deadpool will be getting the big movie treatment in February of 2016. Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool took to Instagram to warn collectors to make sure to stock up on X-Force #2 from 1991, the first appearance of Garrison Kane aka Weapon X.

Kane was co-created by Fabian Nicieza and Liefeld and was a member of Cable’s team the Six Pack. After a mission gone wrong Kane is drafted into the Weapon X program, which created Deadpool and Wolverine, where he was turned into a cyborg. He has been an adversary of Deadpool so possibly plays a similar role in the film. Kane is currently “dead” in the main Marvel universe. I don’t expect that to last if he has a role in the movie, and a resurrection in the Marvel universe might tip this off even more.

A bigger question is, with both Kane and Deadpool’s connection to Cable, plus Apocalypse’s appearance in the next X film, might we be seeing the future soldier make an appearance? And with Fox dipping their toes more into the X-Force area of the X-Men universe, are we more likely to see a full X-Force film now?!
