Witchblade #166

Sara Pezzini’s world has become increasingly gray since she became a private investigator. Without the laws and regulations that being a cop used to provide, Sara has no idea whether her actions have been for the greater good or not. But to both put food on the table and stop a more powerful evil, Sara will need to dig up enough dirt to destroy the career of the only decent and honest politician left in Chicago.

I’ve been reading Witchblade on and off since Top Cow’s world changing event. What I’ve read has been solid and entertaining, but something was slightly off from the previous amazing run by Ron Marz. The focus was more action and not as character based. It’s still been entertaining, but just different.

I haven’t read the last couple of issues, but in a light week of comics, I made sure to check out the latest release and what I might have been missing.

This issue was pretty solid. I liked the idea of the dirty politician and digging up dirt, but actually working in the political world, there’s jobs for this type of work. I wouldn’t generally see a campaign going to a private eye. That aside, the story and its resolution is entertaining.

It’s been a while since the big change in the Top Cow universe, but Witchblade is still going strong. Things might be slightly different with a new creative team, but it is still a great comic. In a light week, do yourself a favor a check out what you’ve been missing.
