This weekend, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences held the 2012 Creative Arts Emmys, and The Walking Dead was honored with the award for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for the Season 2 Premiere What Lies Ahead.

The award — the second Emmy for The Walking Dead — was presented to Special FX Makeup Designer and Co-Executive Producer Greg Nicotero and his KNB EFX team, who together bested stiff competition from FX’s American Horror Story, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, HBO’s Game of Thrones and ABC’s Once Upon A Time.
