Word up! KABOOM! proudly brings you all new adventures of WordGirl —based on the Emmy Award-winning animated children’s show of the same name. WordGirl and Captain Huggy Face continue to battle the terrifying – and sometimes ridiculous – villains of Fair City. And between saving the innocent populace (vocab word!) and keeping her secret superhero identity hidden from her parents, WordGirl has certainly got her work cut out for her!

  • Sometimes when I visit my family’s lake house, I tune into the aged television set they have their for lack of access to the internet. And because it’s so old, we get maybe five channels, all of them grainy in some way. One of the things I caught last year was The Adventures of Wordgirl.

I don’t remember it being all that interesting, but then I was clearly not the target demographic. It’s nice to see a comic adaptation, at least. I’ve sort of made it my personal mission to find family-friendly comics of quality. I’ll have to check this out when I can.

    • This is the third one of these that BOOM! has put out. All are great as family-friendly reads. If you’re really looking for those types of comics, also check out Archaia’s Jim Henson’s The Storyteller and depending on how old the kids are I think Mouse Guard is great too. Red 5’s Atomic Robo is a great action series for kids.
