Diamond Select Reveals Marvel Animated Minimates Series 5; Series 4 Now Available at Walgreens

Diamond Select Toys recently released Series 4 of its Marvel Animated Minimates collection, the latest assortment in an exclusive mini-figure line only available at Walgreens stores. Now they’re ready to unveil the next assortment in the line! This upcoming fifth series of figures features all-new two-packs from Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble, including new variations on your favorite Super Heroes and Super Villains, as well as two never-before-made characters!

Series 5 will hit on July 1, 2017, and will include four different two-packs, each containing two 2-inch Minimates mini-figures. The assortment includes:

  • From Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Girl faces off with Hulk Carnage! May “Mayday” Parker is the daughter of Peter Parker from an alternate Earth, while a Carnage-possessed Hulk ravaged New York City in “The Symbiote Saga.” Spider-Girl includes a webline accessory.
  • Also from Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel battles Kang the Conqueror! Teenage Inhuman superheroine Kamala Khan comes with an interchangeable stretching arm and giant hand to challenge the master of time himself! This is the first Marvel Minimate of the new Ms. Marvel!
  • From Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Iron Man’s Mark II armor goes up against Proxima Midnight, a super-strong lieutenant of Thanos. Iron Man features a removable helmet and flight stand, while Proxima comes with her spear. This is the first Marvel Minimate of Proxima Midnight!
  • Also from Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Bruce Banner puts on his very own Hulkbuster Armor to take on the gamma-irradiated genius The Leader! The Hulkbuster Armor is removable, and Bruce includes alternate parts so you can display him in his Stark Industries T-shirt!

Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features fully interchangeable parts, so you can trade accessories and create custom looks. Minimates also feature a standard 14 points of articulation, to strike a variety of poses, and each Minimate comes with a clear disc base that pegs into the character’s foot to support dynamic poses.

Look for Series 5 to arrive in all Walgreens stores on July 1, 2017. Series 4 is in stores now, with Deep Immersion Spider-Man and Anti-Venom, Green Goblin with Scarlet Spider, Speed Energy Hulk with Speed Demon, and Iron Skull with Doctor Spectrum!

Marvel Animated Universe Gets New Minimates at Walgreens in 2016!

The Marvel Animated Universe is expanding at Walgreens! With Series 1.5 of Marvel Animated Minimates in stores this holiday season, Diamond Select Toys is ready to reveal Series 2 of the Walgreens-exclusive mini-figure line! The all-new assortment features two-packs from Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultimate Spider-Man, including Super Heroes, villains and even villainous Super Heroes!

Series 2 will include four different two-packs, each containing two 2-inch Minimates mini-figures. The assortment includes:

  • From Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, “Dark Avengers” Thor with his hammer Mjolnir and an alternate helmetless hair piece, and Thanos, the universe-conquering Titan.
  • Also from Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, “Dark Avengers” Iron Man with a removable helmet, and Black Widow with her shock batons.
  • From Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora with her sword and Drax with his knives and baby Groot.
  • From Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Iron Spider-Man with an interchangeable unmasked head, and Taskmaster with his sword and shield.

Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features fully interchangeable parts, so you can trade accessories and create custom looks. Minimates also feature a standard 14 points of articulation, to strike a variety of poses, and each Minimate comes with a clear disc base that pegs into the character’s foot.

Marvel Animated Minimates Series 1.5 Headed to Walgreens!

With the first series of Marvel Animated Minimates scheduled to arrive in Walgreens stores in early September, it’s time to take a look at Series 1.5! Scheduled for a holiday release, this all-new assortment of eight Minimates mini-figures draws on the world of Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man, providing a cool mix of animated-style heroes and villains!

The assortment, which is expected to be available in all Walgreens by December, includes the following two-packs:

  • From Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man (with web line and interchangeable half-raised mask head) comes packed with Agent Coulson, with fully removable SHIELD armor to reveal his blue suit underneath.
  • From Avengers Assemble, a massive Hulkbuster Iron Man, with removable armor pieces and a flip-up helmet, comes with the evil android Ultron.
  • From Ultimate Spider-Man, the alternate-reality Spider-Man, Miles Morales (with web line and interchangeable unmasked head) comes with the Harry Osborne version of Venom, with removable parts and an interchangeable head to create the Venom clones from “Venom Bomb.”
  • From Avengers Assemble, Hawkeye (with quiver, bow and arrows) comes with hired thug Crossbones.

Each Minimates mini-figure features up to 14 points of articulation, and all parts and accessories are fully interchangeable. Each two-pack comes in show-branded packaging, with a clear display base for each figure. Look for Series 1 in September and Series 1.5 in December, exclusively at Walgreens!

Exclusive Marvel Minimates Animated Line to Launch at Walgreen’s Stores this Fall!

In the long history of the Marvel Minimates line, there have been waves dedicated to both Marvel comics and Marvel movies, but never the world of Marvel animation. Now, Diamond Select Toys is launching an all-new series of Marvel Minimates, exclusively at Walgreen’s, and it’s all about the Marvel Animated Universe!

Starting September 4, Marvel Minimates Animated Series 1 will be available at Walgreen’s stores nationwide, and will feature Diamond Select’s first cartoon-based Marvel Minimates. The first Minimates ever to be offered at the Walgreen’s chain of stores, this new line will include characters from Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy!

Marvel Minimates Animated Series 1 will feature four different two-packs, each with show-specific packaging design:

  • From Avengers Assemble, that show’s two-pack will pair Hulk and Captain America, with alternate faces for each, plus a shield and an unmasked hairpiece for Steve Rogers.
  • From Guardians of the Galaxy, a two-pack of Star-Lord and Groot will come with a 1-inch micro-figure of Rocket Raccoon, as well as a blaster and a mask for Star-Lord.
  • From Ultimate Spider-Man; a two-pack matching up Spider-Man with Electro will come with an alternate Spidey head, a webline, lightning blasts and an energy base. Plus, Electro glows in the dark!
  • Also from Ultimate Spider-Man, a second two-pack will include Spider-Man 2099 and Agent Venom, with a webline.

Minimates mini-figures stand approximately 2 inches tall, and each features 14 points of articulation. Body parts and accessories are fully interchangeable, so you can trade gear, helmets and even body parts between characters.

Look for the assortment in stores starting on September 4. This is only the first series of the new Marvel Minimates Animated line, so expect to hear more about future assortments as the year progresses!

For some unholy reason, Hasbro has decided to make this amazing Agent Venom, that we’ve been waiting a year to see where it would release, is finally seeing the light of day…….exclusively at Walgreens. What’s a Walgreens? Is this some type of new toy store I don’t know about because I live in Canada? Last I heard Walgreens was a pharmacy! Why? Why Hasbro? Why? This forces me into the murky waters of the 2nd market to get a figure I really want and pay the inevitable mark-up. Why? Why Hasbro? Why? You can pre-order Agent Venom at the Hasbro booth at SDCC in July. Or randomly drop into a Walgreens when getting a prescription because KNOW ONE GOES TO WALGREENS LOOKING FOR TOYS!

And in a double dose of S.H. Figuarts news, because it seems impossible for me to do a story without mentioning their figures, a repaint and a monster are on the way for DBZ fans. At SDCC a repaint of Vegeta will be available. Sporting his original anime colours before arriving on Earth, Vegeta comes packed with all the same great accessories and interchangeable parts of the original release.

And finally, this winter will see the release of the largest DBZ S.H. Figuarts toy to-date, the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly! Coming in at around 7.5″ tall and loaded with interchangeable parts, and 3 blast effect parts, Broly will be ready to dominate the Z fighters.
