TV Review: King of the Nerds Season 2 Episode 1: In Search of a King
The King of the Nerds are back for a second season. I actually stumbled upon the first episode when checking out what to watch at 10pm. I didn’t even know the season was starting, but after enjoying the first season so much, I had to turn in for the first episode to see the nerdery on display.
Before I start, why is it “In Search of a King”? Why not a queen?
The first episode is all about the individuals. But before we get to that, the opening of the show was absolutely amazing spoofing the Lord of the Rings to explain the need for a second season. It was a fantastic opening with some great humor to it.
From there, everyone was introduced and teams picked. There’s a twist and then a twist after that twist.
But again, the first episode is getting to know the contestants and there’s some folks with some serious quirks and social skill issues. But, what stood out more is the amount of folks that have an engineering degree or something close to that. Where’s the literature degrees? The history majors? It’s almost as if someone needs to be a rocket engineer to get on the show!?
The nerd off is also amazing. I’d love to attempt to do what they got a chance to. It looked like so much fun. It’s not a shocker as to who either team picked. It’s pretty easy to figure out who would be chosen once the teams are settled.
The first episode has set up an interesting season with some real nerds and a few fairly normal folks. Nerdvana is looking pretty bright based on the first episode.
Overall Score: 7.5
