It’s a Simian takeover of the Marvel Universe with Variant Covers!

Earlier this year, Marvel announced that the Planet of the Apes franchise will return to Marvel Comics with all-new stories starting in early 2023! The legendary science fiction franchise has spanned over five decades with media including comics, books, films, television series, video games, and toys and now it’s the dawn of a new era! To celebrate the launch of the upcoming Planet of the Apes comic series, some of Marvel’s biggest talents have crafted stunning variant covers depicting Marvel super heroes trapped on a world ruled by apes! Just like the groundbreaking film series, these scenes range from action-packed to poignant and will grace the covers of Marvel’s hottest titles throughout February!

Marvel Comics and Planet of the Apes have a rich history that goes back over 40 years. Marvel first published PLANET OF THE APES stories in 1974, and in 1975, Marvel published Adventures on the Planet of the Apes, full-color adaptations of the iconic Planet of the Apes films. Now, Planet of the Apes is back at Marvel and ready to take comics by storm! Classic Planet of the Apes are collected in a new omnibus

Last week, Marvel announced a brand-new era of Planet of the Apes comics! The groundbreaking science-fiction phenomenon will return to Marvel Comics with a new series next year and fans will also be able to enjoy Marvel’s previous Planet of the Apes stories in the upcoming Planet of the Apes Adventures: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus!

This rare collection will reprint all eleven issues of Adventures of the Planets of the Apes for the very first time! The beloved 1975 series adapted the first two iconic Planet of the Apes films and hold a special place in the hearts of Planet of the Apes and Marvel Comics fans alike!

When a crew of astronauts crash-lands on a strange and desolate world, they discover a society of apes with heightened intelligence and speech! And here, a race of mute humans are their slaves! Can the mission’s leader, Taylor, fight his way free and hold onto his humanity? What is the shocking secret of this Planet of the Apes? And what unfathomable danger lies beneath the surface? Leading member of the Ape National Assembly, the One:12 Collective Dr. Zaius is outfitted in a tunic shirt and overcoat with embossed detailing, and pleated pants. Included is a miniature polystone Lawgiver statue, the central orangutan prophet deity. The Chief Defender of Faith comes with a range of accessories as seen in the film such as a human doll, walking cane, two Sacred Scrolls, and a paper airplane. 

Resident of Ape City, Dr. Zaius served a dual role in ape society as the Minister of Science, in charge of advancing ape knowledge and also as Chief Defender of the Faith, believing that religion and theories of science worked interchangeably.
