Wizard World & Big Dog Ink Announce Very Special Wizard World Chicago Comic Con Promotion

A twister from over the rainbow, a fateful accident and an epic journey along a road made of yellow bricks. You know the story. Or do you? This coming weekend Wizard World Chicago Comic Con and comic book publisher Big Dog Ink are inviting fans to re-discover an Oz you never knew existed with a very special re-issue of the wild west adventure that has taken the comic book world by storm.

Taking place August 8-11 at the Rosemont Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, each of the first 50k fans in attendance will receive a special Wizard World Chicago Limited Edition copy of Legend of Oz: The Wicked West #1, with a special cover by popular artist Nei Ruffino, absolutely free with their registration. Wizard World has received fantastic feedback for providing fans of the Walking Dead with special exclusive re-issues of that hit comic series, and Legend of Oz: The Wicked West is the latest addition to their popular promotion.

Red Sonja #1 First Printing by Gail Simone Sells Out

It doesn’t hit shelves until next Wednesday, but Dynamite has announced that Diamond Comic Distributors has sold through the entire 35,000 print run of Red Sonja #1‘s first printing prior to the store release date of July 17th. Bolstered by enthusiasm from dedicated fans, the successful Red Sonja relaunch — written by Gail Simone and featuring artwork by Walter Geovani — can still be enjoyed by consumers thanks to an upcoming Second Printing featuring variant artwork by Jenny Frison.

The Red Sonja #1 First Printing celebrated its launch with a wide selection of variant covers illustrated by many of the industry’s top female artists, including Nicola Scott, Amanda Conner, Fiona Staples, Jenny Frison, Colleen Doran, and Stephanie Buscema. Special retailer exclusives (Midtown, Mile High, and the Phantom Retailers) featured artwork from Nei Ruffino, Mariah Benes, and Agnes Gabowska respectively.

Aspen Comics Heads to Phoenix Comic Con 2013

Aspen Comics has revealed their much-anticipated Phoenix Comic Con 2013 exclusives as well as their list of creators that will be available at the Aspen Comics Booth #’s 873 and 972 all weekend long.

Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mike DeBalfo, J.T. Krul, Brett Smith, Nei Ruffino and Alex Konat will be appearing at the Aspen Booth throughout the weekend for signings, sketches and more.

The popular Aspen Splash swimsuit pinup book by Aspen returns this year with an oversized special edition featuring both new and classic pieces by Aspen’s top talents and more. The Aspen Booth #873 and 972 will be offering an exclusive Aspen Splash 2013 Phoenix Comics Con edition with a cover by Aspen founder Michael Turner along with superstar colorist Peter Steigerwald, limited to 250 copies.

The best-selling “10 for 10” initiative celebrating ten years of Aspen Comics continues with two all new “10 for 10” exclusives for the convention. Amazon Gets into the Comic Book Exclusive Marketplace with Zenescope Art Book

Amazon, the #1 online retailer, is offering an exclusive Zenescope Art book to its customers, which is available for pre-order. The art book, entitled The Art of Zenescope Limited Edition Vol. 1 will be released in September and will feature a plethora of the most sought after, limited edition, convention exclusives. The hardcover collection will also come with a limited edition print.

Zenescope Entertainment is well known in the comic book industry for their popular, and valuable convention exclusives that feature pin-up style artwork from some of the finest cover artists in the industry, including J. Scott Campbell, Eric “Ebas” Basaldua, Greg Horn, Ale Garza, Jamie Tyndall, Anthony Spay, Franchesco and Nei Ruffino to name a few. These exclusives have a strong resale value on the secondary marketplace, and are very limited print runs, usually no higher than 500 copies. Zenescope’s horror twist has allowed them to publish many new artistic interpretations of the classic fairy tale characters.

The art book will have a print run of 2500 copies. There will only be 1750 of this art book available through Amazon, as the other 750 of the print run will feature a different cover, and be made available through the direct market through distribution through Diamond.

Aspen Heads to Fan Expo Vancouver

Aspen Comics is pleased to head north of the border and back to Canada for the first of two back-to-back weekends. Beginning on April 20th– 21st, Aspen will be attending the Fan Expo Vancouver 2013 convention and will be bringing some of their finest creators along with exclusive comics and prints.

Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Siya Oum and J.T. Krul will be at the Aspen Comics Booth all weekend long to meet fans, sign autographs and offer free sketches.

The all-new Aspen series Jirni will celebrate its release with a special Jirni #1 Fan Expo Vancouver 2013 exclusive cover by series artist Paolo Pantalena and Nei Ruffino, limited to 300 copies. Aspen will also be offering an exclusive Shrugged #2 Fan Expo Vancouver cover by Siya Oum, limited to 200 copies. Both exclusive books will only be available at the Aspen Comics Booth.

The celebration of Aspen’s ten years in the industry continues with the all new Aspen Tour Print Anniversary Edition art print by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald, limited to 125 editions. In addition to the Aspen Tour Print, the publisher will also be offering an all new series of their industry leading prints, including the all new series Jirni.

The latter of Aspen’s two stops in Canada will be at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on April 26^th-28^th. The publisher will reveal more details about this appearance soon.

Zenescope Unveiling Grimm Animated and Exclusives at C2E2

Zenescope Entertainment has announced its plans for C2E2 2013. The company will be exhibiting at booth #729 at the popular comic and pop culture convention running April 26^th-28^th at McCormick Place in Chicago. Zenescope will be offering several limited edition exclusive comics during the show that features cover art by industry favorites Mike DeBalfo, Jamie Tyndall and Paulo Siqueira.

Appearing at booth #729 will be Zenescope’s Editor-in-Chief, co-founder and writer, Ralph Tedesco who will be signing Friday and Saturday. Also appearing will be writer Mark L. Miller and artists Nei Ruffino, Franchesco, Larry Watts and others.

One of the main highlights of the show for Zenescope fans will be the premiere of the Grimm Fairy Tales Animated pilot episode directed by Jon Schnepp and created by Zenescope Entertainment, Titmouse Animation, and Schneppzone, Inc.

The Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Panel will be hosted by Zenescope’s Ralph Tedesco who also served as one of the producers and writers of the pilot. The panel will be held on Saturday, April 27^th from 11:00am to 12:00pm in Room W476.
