The Flash, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow and Arrow Co-Creator/Executive Producer Suspended Over Allegations

Andrew Kreisberg has been suspended from his duties over allegations of sexual harassment. Kreisberg is a co-creator/executive producer of the The CW/Warner Bros. DC Comics based series The Flash, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow and Arrow. Warner Bros. Television has launched an internal investigation.

In a statement, Warner Bros. TV Group said:

We have recently been made aware of allegations of misconduct against Andrew Kreisberg. We have suspended Mr. Kreisberg and are conducting an internal investigation.  We take all allegations of misconduct extremely seriously, and are committed to creating a safe working environment for our employees and everyone involved in our productions.

Kreisberg has been a top staffer for Greg Berlanti who oversees The CW DC universe and is primarily the showrunner on The Flash.

Berlanti Productions principals Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter released a statement:

We were recently made aware of some deeply troubling allegations regarding one of our showrunners. We have been encouraging and fully cooperating with the investigation into this by Warner Bros.

There is nothing more important to us than the safety and well-being of our cast, crew, writers, producers and any staff. We do not tolerate harassment and are committed to doing everything we can to make an environment that’s safe to work in and safe to speak up about if it isn’t.

The investigation revolves on some accusations including what’s described as an “inappropriate” interaction with a female writer and “hostile work environment.” The situation has also been called a “toxic” environment. Another complaint cited “inappropriate behavior” by Kreisberg.

Legends of Tomorrow Commemorates Trump’s Pussy Grabbing Remark with a Plaque

Donald Trump hasn’t even been President for a year and he’s already getting plaques commemorating him. A small metal plaque has been posted at the studio where the now President commented to Billy Bush about grabbing women “by the pussy.”

The plaque was posted by producers of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow which airs on The CW. The comments which was recorded by Access Hollywood occurred on the same lot for the show.

The hot-mic recording happened in 2005 when the then Apprentice host bragged to show host Billy Bush about kissing and fondling women without their consent, assault.

The plaque reads:

On this spot in September 2005, Donald J. Trump bragged about committing sexual assault. In November 2016, he was elected President of the United States.

The plaque was taken down 15 minutes after it was put up. Now, the Legends team just needs to work this into their show…

TV Review: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S3E3 Zari

DC Legends of Tomorrow continues to tackle complex issues and “Zari” gives us one of the feistiest and action packed episodes so far. The team resides to save Time Bureau pencil pusher Gary when he sends out a distress call after an attack from the mystical water woman seen at the end of last weeks episode. While half the team sets off to find out who was in the TB’s mystery transport box, aka the reason for the water assassins attack, the other half tries to solve the mystery of Amaya’s glitchy totem power.

While the professor and Nate decide to mansplain the power of the totem to Amaya (nice Job writers for calling it what it was) the rest of the team go out on the hunt for the escaped prisoner. The future is hella bleak, religion and being a metahuman are both illegal and Argus sends out drones to hunt them down which is challenging enough without the “water bitch” hot on their trails. When push comes to shove, newcomer Zari fights against the water walker and when there’s a moment of space she saves Ray, while Sarah plays chicken with the Time Bureau’s ships to save Zari. Amaya gets much of her toughness back just in time for the episodes final battle against the big bad and embraces her inner totem , after a long talk with her one of her ancestors. Tonight’s episode gave us a heist as a jail break, glowing necklaces, impromptu metahuman rescue from a detention center, and a vision quest, all rolled into one amazing hour of television.

The writers continue to tackle biases, societal norms (newcomer Zari is a Muslim female with metahuman adjacent powers courtesy of her very own totem), gender issues (so much mansplaining and attempts at manfixing). I love the way that they keep things fresh, honest and relatable enough that the diversity calls for the viewer to question their own issues with “the other.” The stunningly diverse cast stays refreshing and openly allows for chances to view the world through people outside the norm/default (cis white/male) views. There’s something hella awesome about a show that manages to inject some social theory into an action packed, camptastic series but, the writers manage to do it and I’m all the way here for it,

TV Review: Legends of Tomorrow S3E2 Freakshow

Tonight’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow starts off with a loving flashback to Nathaniel and Amaya spending some quality time, having fun with some baking. The team sets off on a new mission that Sarah refers to as a “slam dunk,” so you know things are going to go six ways from sideways. They end up in 1870 Wisconsin in PT Barnum’s, played by Billy Zane, circus in search of an anachronism, that turns out being a sabertooth tiger. A mix up with Atom’s don’t-call-it-a -shrink-Ray leaves the team with an even bigger problem their hands and since none of the current roster of Legends has any experience with animals, Sara in all of her boss chick, girl squad glory, takes a dip back in time to grab former team member Amaya (aka OG Vixen).

While Nathaniel deals with his abandonment and relationship loss issues, Sarah and Amaya take on the prehistoric beast and prevail. But, since it’s never all good in the Legends hood Nathaniel’s attempt at drinking away his feelings with his boys, leads to half the team getting captured. It was fun and authentic to see Nate try and mask his feelings, while showcasing the fragile male ego and, nice guy syndrome after the dissolution of a romantic relationship. Instead of tackling his feelings he masks them and blames Amaya , he’s so caught in trying to come off unbothered and hyper masculine he ends up getting Amaya and himself taken while mid-rescue mission.

There is some resolution and hope in Nathaniel realizing his ego was to blame and he finally talks it out with Amaya giving some clarity to the situation. While they work out their issues and attempt to gain closure, Sara rallies the remaining crew members, Rory and the Professor, while she goes toe to toe with Time Agent Sharp.

Overall, the episode is a straight up banger filled with superior action, a big baddie reveal, a trust fall, a team reconnection, and a glimpse into human nature. There’s a lot packed into the episode but none of it was useless or fluff. “Freakshow” serves up a solid hour of awesomeness.

Kudos to the Legends writing room. In this episode they tackle the bond of sisterhood in friendships, the fragility of male egos, and showcase strong female characters who not only save the day but, are secure in themselves being undefined by who they’re dating. Legends continues its tackling of complex issues, racial, gender and sexual, while telling an action packed camptastic story. The writers make sure that even the placeholder episodes that pop up during the season have meaning, explore a message and keep it real and I’m all the way here for it.

TV Review: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S3E1 Aruba-Con

legends-of-tomorrow-season-2When the Legends realize they broke the timeline, Rip Hunter arrives to relieve them of duty; a new threat arises when Rory spots Julius Caeser in Aruba; Sara, Nate, and Ray devise a plan to stop Julius Caeser from conquering the modern world.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns and dives right into the fact that the crew has wrecked the time continuum but due to that there’s a whole new aspect to the series that I’m not spoiling here.

The episode is full of humor and maybe the strongest of any so far.

I found myself laughing quite a few times as the show displays a great sense of humor about itself and allows the various characters play off of each other well. This is a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously and while it’s taken a while, this episode feels like the moment where it has found its voice and what makes it stand out from the pack. This isn’t deep stuff, this is just fun without depth. That’s not a bad thing because as I watched the hour I found myself liking the characters more than I ever have.

Basically, our heroes are stripped of their jobs and have to fight their way back into it all and they do it quite well. They’re screw-ups and they know it and go all in when it comes to that.

This is a show that’s just a rollercoaster ride and a nice balance between action and humor. The action stands out with some of the best sequences in a while but there’s a huge problem with the actors coming nowhere near hitting their opponents and it’s pretty clear on screen that’s the case. So while the moves are good, the actual fights are bad in that it’s clearly faked. I don’t remember that being an issue before, which is weird.

What’s funny is, this show was low on my list about caring about but after this episode, I’m excited to see what’s next. Hopefully the season is like this episode in which case this’ll be a fun hour each week.

TV Review: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S2E16 Doomworld

legends-of-tomorrow-season-2The Legion of Doom rewrites reality, leaving the Legends altered; the reason the Spear of Destiny must be destroyed comes to light.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow rewrites the world as the Legion of Doom hold the spear of destiny after last episode and we get to see how they’ve remade the world. Alternate world stories tend to be rather entertaining and impressively this series doesn’t linger too long in this world getting us in and out in an action packed episode that’s tons of fun and tons of action.

The center of the episode revolves around Mick who is feeling a bit guilty about his betrayal so needs to get the band back together to fix everything. What’s interesting is that the show doesn’t make things easy and by the time the episode is over a member has fallen and things have gone horribly wrong.

And all of that is why I think this episode is one of my favorite of the year. The fact that it’s compressed in one episode and not dragged out, it gives us some high stakes, and then the end has some moments I wasn’t expecting at all, it impressively pulls off a surprising ending that absolutely caught me off guard, though the final solution to resolve the big picture is pretty obvious.

What’s also great is every character and actor got to have fun playing with their character and giving us the viewers something new and different that keeps us on our toes and feels fresh and new. It’s fun and has an energy and spin that’s been lacking at times this season.

This episode is the anything that can happen that I expect from this series and boy does it deliver.

TV Review: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S2E14 Moonshot

legends-of-tomorrow-season-2When the Legends track Commander Steel to NASA Headquarters in 1970, they discover where Nate’s grandfather hid the last fragment of the Spear of Destiny; tension grows between Rip and Sara over leadership of the team.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow does its best Apollo 13 impression as the team heads to the doomed mission in hopes of grabbing the last fragment of the Spear of Destiny.

The episode is an interesting one in that it allows Nate to really explore his family dynamic as he interacts with his grandfather and contemplates changing the timeline in hopes of fixing his family dynamic. There’s something touching, but predictable about it all.

The episode is generally fun with Ray Palmer giving off his general excited vibe as he heads to the moon and a small musical number breaks out at one point (it works). There’s also tension between Sara and Rip and Sara’s leadership over the team. Where does that leave Rip in it all? We’ll find out.

The episode is entertaining and as usual throws it all out there in the crazy that is this series. You can tell everyone is enjoying themselves and the stories, like this episode, are over the top in plot and action. The end of the episode is where it’s at though. I’m not spoiling it, but it connects the dots in so many ways and again adds fun to the CW DCverse.

TV Review: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S2E13 Land of the Lost

legends-of-tomorrow-season-2Rip forces the Waverider to crash, leaving the Legends stuck 70 million years in the past; Rory suggest entering Rip’s mind in an effort to get the “good” Rip back Nate and Amaya continue to get closer.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow fights to bring back classic Rip in a so-so episode that has some of the heroes heading into Rip’s mind to save him while other members have to fight dinosaurs.

The episode is fun, but it’s a been there done that story in so many different ways. Members running for a dinosaur has comedic moment but its resolution is pretty easy to figure out and it never really feels like it’s threatening in any way.

The battle in Rip’s mind has folks battling figments of themselves on the psychic plane which is about as paint by numbers as it gets in this type of story. It’s not bad and there’s some action, but other than the resolution nothing in the episode really stands out.

The highlight is a “physical” manifestation of the ship’s artificial intelligence and there’s a bit of a thing with Rip… it’s weird. It’s really weird. Like, I have so many questions, weird.

The episode gets us from point a to b but at the same time none if it stands out. This episode is actually forgettable.
